ASOT is a weekly radio show Armin Van Buuren created in what I believe originally seemed to be an ingenious method to market himself as 'the DJ who plays today’s newest trance tunes.' The venture imo failed because it damaged his reputation. The show could not present quality new trance tracks on a weekly basis. As a result the term' ASOT Fluff' or 'ASOT ' was coined. trance was than associated with Armin; partially due to the show.

ASOT also had become a popular resource for the non-DJ trance fans because it provided an outlet to hear new trance songs. In essence they could follow trance more closely like a DJ would do in a record shop. However, the show failed to filter out the garbage tunes for the sake of quantity. This created a cult of clueless trance fans who believe trance and the sound of trance was akin to ASOT. The trance DJ's all knew this show was a joke.

The concept of ASOT ( 1 hr. new tunes & 1 hr. mix show) is very similar to the idea behind GDJB, however,Markus Schulz (the founder of GDJB)was clever enough to realize that in order to market himself, like Armin , he would also need to bring on other DJ's in addition to showcasing new tunes for the progressive genre. A slight twist from the ASOT business model. But I will give credit to Schulz for doing a much better job at filter the new tunes he selects for the show. GDJB, unlike ASOT, also have created a sophisticated marketing team which frequents these boards. They work hard to hype the show and try to discourage any criticism. Thus it became more difficult for criticism to become as obvious on TA as it did with ASOT.

so if I had never asked you guys I never would have found out

and the reason i said is it at a radio station is because of that mispronunciation thread the other day
