REVIEW: Dennis Hahn & Cinar Onat @ The Purple Room, Waterloo

Kelly (dance2dabeat) and I wandered in at about 11:05pm, without the rest of our crew (Playa24_7 and our buddy Rob, it's a long story, I'm sure it'll be told here). Got in, yadda yadda, got some drinks, good tunes being played.
Dennis Hahn - impressive. Really well done, dude :D Great tunes all night, kept us all movin like nothin else. Some highlights were Godchild and Children of The Sun. It was great to meet ya too, hope you enjoyed that early birthday drink, heh.
Cinar Onat - My night was complete when he first came on the decks and spun System F - Out of The Blue. Blew my ing mind, I'd never heard that in a club before and I was almost in tears. Such a classic. PURE CLASSSSSSS. After this came a lot of house, which I'm not too keen on (yet) but I still kept dancin away. Near the end of the night, about 2:45am, came Paul van Dyk - Vega. I have that tune in my head right now and it's KILLIN me! :D
Anyway, got home at 4am, now 4:16, and I'm pounding water like there's no tomorrow :)
Great to meet dance2dabeat for the first time, we've gotta party some more, and Dennis Hahn, we'll be there every Friday night you're on the decks for sure, man!

I'll concur it was a great night... place filed up quickly and early, and as always the people that were there were going off. I've been playing there for over 2 years and I'm continuously amazed at the incredible vibe in there.
Many thanks to the TA's that showed up to support, nice meeting a few new folks... look forward to seeing you all again next month and thanks for making it a great birthday!

it was a great night, ONCE i got there that is. the night starts off by taking a cab to rev, then realizing i left my wallet at my friends. so cab back to his house, then cab back to rev. $75 later in cab fares and being super pissed off about my mistake, were in line. the rain started, we were freezing haha, and 25minutes later we got in. i think it was like 12:15am, but not exactly sure.
get in, dance2thebeat and vertigo are on the floor dancing it up, cale with hands in the air, already obviously loaded massive haha, and dance2thebeat showing how dancing is done. grab some drinks, meet up with them, and start getting into it.
we all danced the entire night like crazy, and at the end it was just us 4 dancing, no one else, all just loving the music. a great local night out for sure.
kelly, thanks for driving our 3 drunken asses home haha, had a great night with you as always, and your a true competition on the dance floor. looking forward to the next night out for sure! :D |

Came particularly for the birthday boy, who never ceases to amaze me at how much he improves with every outing. Another impressive set.
But I was thoroughly enjoyed Cinar's set as well - Good choice of house tracks (ie Antoine Clamaran's rmx of Hatiras' Money Shot).
And great to see Kelly as well...it's been a long time...ol' P-Room crew reprazent.
