i want to sell some records but wanted to know a few things before i put them up on ebay...
where do you buy the cardboard sleeves/cardboard squares/bubblewrap, etc from? I cant really find anywhere that sells this stuff except htfr - is there any other better places?
Also, UK sellers, approx how much is postage for one record to somewhere else in the UK, with and without recorded delivery?

hi mate, there a guy on ebay called rikvendman , do search for his user name, thats where i get my mailers from. postage in the uk is either £1.15 or £1.37 1st class depending on the weight of the record, the different weights are right on the two price brackets. Recorded is about 65p extra on any item

power seller here ;)
All of these are approximate as it varies depending on weight at the post office
1st class recorded to uk is 1.85 (ish) depending on the weight of the record, mailing envelope and stiffener. For 2 in the same envelope its about 2.25 ish.
1st class recorded you are insured up to 28 quid a time and you can track them online.
Not sure exactly how much it is to the uk unrecorded- i wont send it non signed for to cover my own ass (too many scammers), but i believe its 60p less for non recorded, so about 1.20.
All of my listings i charge either 2.35 or 2.50 for first class recorded- this then covers the mailers, the insurance and someway towards my other costs (paypal, listing/ final value fees, petrol to go the post office and the hassle factor).
I also ship out records the same day so generally people get them the next morning.
To the us:
One 12" non recorded is 3.50 ish, and US international signed for is around the 6 quid mark
Europe: somewhere between UK and US rates (its all done in zones)
For mailers, buy them in bulk ( i buy about 250 at a time) and they work out at pennies each.
Check out some ebay sellers as moondog the avatar thief suggested, or chemical records sell them too, as do htfr. |
