While I commend you for actually finding benchmarks with audio apps (instead of the usual Office and Quake benchmarks...), it seems to me that they are comparing PC with their cards in them with the G5. While this may be a valid comparision if that is what you are deciding between, a PC w/ Carillon or a G5, but still does not resolve the issue of a normal PC and mac. I point it out simply because I am skeptical of benchmarks sponsered by a company trying to sell you something (one reason why the Apple benchmarks are complete ).
While I am not convinced by these benchmarks, I do not find it unbelievable the the Macs (G4 or G5) is slower than some PCs.
Apple's hype about the fastest desktop computer is simply from the maximum theoretical calculations the G5 can compute and really has no basis in real world tasks. |
