I also would suggest weed.:D 0.7 grams of hydro would have me laughing myself to sleep, one or 2 blasts does the trick for me.

Dimenhydrinate is an anti-histamine, a popular active ingredient in anti-nauscants like Gravol and OTC sleeping aids.

It also has some interesting psychoactive effects if you take too much... from what I hear.

Check out that image. It is a chart that shows the efficacy of different motion sickness drugs.

Note that amphetamine (w/ scopolamine) is the most effective... :thepirate

I'll have to side with the weed camp, but melatonin comes in a close second.

The good thing about melatonin is that it actually makes you "tired" as opposed to "drowsy" so it actually feels like you're going to sleep naturally and not fighting to stay awake while some chemical puts you out. And you can be fairly liberal with the dosage, they usually sell them in 3 mg tablets and even with 5 or 6 of them the worst that will happen to you is that you oversleep (personally I've never needed more than one).

5-htp is okay but you're adding an extra step in the metabolization (5-htp -> serotonin -> melatonin), and if the problem is jet lag or just a screwed-up sleep cycle then chances are your brain is not producing melatonin at all and the 5-htp won't help. 5-htp is great for getting more restful sleep but doesn't usually *put* you to sleep when you've got insomnia.

From personal experience I can say that 7 or 8 shots of sambuca also works. ;)

I find warm milk or tea does not work if Im in a restless mode. Im sure it doesnt help that I do shift work, so it seems every day I change my sleep cycle by 8 hours!

Ive been wanting to get my hands on some nozinan for a good nights sleep, that will kick the e out of lorazepam!

try layin' off the drugs - they all cause anxiety and stress - making your body not able to sleep - Drugs are not always the answer - maybe try some herbal stuff, go to a special herbal store...

Drugs are bad on your liver too...

DRUGs ARe Bad!
hahah

good night

sweet dreams

melatonin is highly addictive, but it works really really well. So if you do do the melatonin thing, make sure it doesn't become the norm.
Other ways, I don't mind taking back a couple shots of liquor, just enough to get the muscles relaxed, and get my mind to stop wandering.
Weed doesn't work well for me, I'm very sensitive to hallucinogens, and I end up getting a terrible tossing, semi-conscious sleep with weed.
But the best way, I've found is meditation, no joke. If you know how to meditate, using that to clear your mind before going to bed works wonders.
