C3Sharp: I think that's a quite accurate guide. It places most genres where they should be (and that includes "Airwave" being far from trance). There may be a mistake here and there, but it's virtually impossible to aim for perfection when it comes to labeling genres, due to its subjective nature. Besides, it's just music... for organisation sake, do a search next time so we won't have the same discussions split in countless threads :)

(I wouldn't call it anti-trance: he seems to know how amazing acid trance is, for example)

Yup must be laughable for the great, superior, trance-ified mind like yours

Yup, i'm sooooo trance-ified thats why I mostly spin underground hip hop and most of my original tracks are UK type breakbeats and dirty dark drum n bass (mind you my productions suck but i just got started producing).

Now if you could go drown yourself I'd, well I wouldn't give a damn actually. On a serious note, if you really do like Italo Dance you probably actually should drown yourself.

Or you could always read the disclaimer he put in.......

I did but thanks for the advice. Any advice on proper methods for breathing air? I just can't seem to get it right. oh well.

Actually I do not, but every genre of music has a couple of decent 'tunes' right :)

True. There is some good country music so why not Italo Dance. I do dig Ishkur's dark humor.

affirmative on both counts

I found his guide to be very comprehensive (for all my knowledge, or lack thereof :p ) and quite humorous. He uses a lot of satire, and I think that's what pisses people off so much concerning the guide - the very fact that, maybe even subconsciously, those people know that satire wouldn't be funny if there wasn't a bit of truth in there somewhere. :stongue:

I found it to be a great guide with an extremely large amount of great samples from each genre. You can say what you want about his anti-trance comments (though I wouldn't say that's he's really all that anti-trance, persay) but I think he's dead-on with the samples. If you take anything from Ishkur's guide to heart, let it be the fact that the samples of each musical genre speak for themselves, despite his comments.

If we can't laugh at it, the terrorists have already won....

err, something like that. :wtf: :stongue:

It is the best guide there is, but hey isn't this the thread number n+1 about this subject? :P

Just wondering if anyone on TA has ever seen this. Let me know what you think.

no, nobody on TA has ever seen this ever.

Thanks to the people who did respond (in a non-flame way). By the way, I did do a search, but it gave me the 'cannot search using words of 4 letters or less' even though all the words were greater than 4 letters. I'm sorry its been done before, but I had no way of knowing at the moment.

to avoid that 4-letter annoyance, refine your searches and be more specific.

Here's how I do it...

regular search
- exact phrase = ishkur

search options
- search forum = music discussion
- search titles only [checked]
- search for posts from = the beginning of time

the result
- returned 4 hits, one of them being this thread

I also noted

- Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music is not a definitive or even accurate resource on EDM.

on the Beginner's Guide to Trance thread. However, it is indeed a laugh.
