so i took my 4" factory speaks out and replaced w/ pioneer 50w (rms) in the front of my car.

went to the back and dammit, 4" speaks there too. ive had a pair of 6 1/2" 150w max speaks for awhile and i want to put in the back of my car, however the hole in the plastic part in the door that holds the speaker is too small to fit my new 6.5" speaker there. my question: should i dremel that sh*t and make a bigger hole? its not gonna look rite and the circle arch from the previous opening would be exposed and not covered by the 6.5". or should i try to find another plastic speaker holder from toyota (i have an avalon, 96) that has a 6" or 6.5" hole to hold the new speaks? if this one, where do u think i can get that plastic part?

if ur confused, ima take pics tonight and post. id like to get all this done (and subs in) by tgiving. all u car buffs, maybe i can get the part from a junkyard? what other toyotas have 6.5"'s in the back?

Well you should see if your car can fit things before you buy... You can dremel it out.. but make sure that if your speakers are 2.5" deep that they wont hit anything behind the wall (ie window, wires, frame etc). As much as I hate crutchfield they may have the adapter that you are after.

yeah ive had these 6.5's for awhile, was gonna put in my old car but i wrecked that. and i DONT want anymore 4" speaks cuz the wattage sux.

maybe i can find a part @ the jukyards off other toyota. id hafta measure how deep into the door the 6.5" goes. i think ill stay away from crutch. :)

Get infinity Kappas. Or Boston Acoustics. They can pump out mean sound and can stand high wattage abuse. If you are looking for your small speakers to give the bass... that wont happen.

yeah, thats why im switching them out, blew the factory ones. hahaha. the 6.5's i have are 150watt max, round 80w rms.

small speaks sux, i dunno why they even make 4" or lower

found a "baffle" on crutchfield. looks like it MIGHT work, but i dunno how thin/thick this is. needs to be thick enuff to screw into. dunno if these are just 'weather-proofers'

Are you powering from an amp? or from your radio?

from my head unit, its got its own amp i believe
_Nut_
most head units pump out is 15 to 25 watts RMS (peak is )

The better the speaker, the more the power needed. And head units dont provide that very well. If you want big clean sound you need a stand alone amp.

the smaller the speaker the better the treble output. That is why you have 1" tweets for trebs, 6.5" drivers for mids, and 10"+ subs for bass.
