I decided to get healthy 6 months ago, and haven't touched soda since. Substituded Vitamin Water (good stuff :) ). Haven't touched coffee since either. I used to drink 1-2 large cups a day.
That Peppermint Mocha sounds pretty appealing though, I might try it next time I pass a Starbucks (IE very soon).
Caffeine doesn't seem to affect me much either. Nor do energy drinks. |

| I had a Pepsi yesterday and it was the first soda that I've had in over 2 months. |

Prior to every summer I would wean myself off of coffee and caffeine drinks altogether - primarily because I had a notion of having a more "pure" healthy system while I trained and competed in triathlons.
Of course, I'd still toke up and put a number of other chemicals in my body on occasion throughout the summer, so I guess that really does kinda defeat the purpose. But hey, it was the thought that counts, right?
Umm, yeah. Anyway, if you're really wanting to get off of coffee and caffeine, I would suggest a weaning effect. For me I slowly put more decaf in my cup until after a coupla weeks it was all decaf. I've also weaned myself off using regular hot tea, and then I'd go to green tea, then nothing at all. Probably a bit healthier doin' it that way.
Doin' it cold turkey gives me a ing pounding headache for about 48 hrs. - I've done it this way too, just takes a few extra ibuprofin and a tolerance for the headaches, but they go away... |

I just went cold turkey on soda and caffeine. One day, I decided to just start drinking green tea instead. Now I've moved on to apple juice, as well as the occasional coconut soda, but I make sure to drink a lot of Green tea and skim milk each day. Probably isn't all that healthy, but I like it a lot more than soda. Drinking so much Mountain Dew all the time used to make me feel bad about it - it was probably mostly psychological, but it jsut felt wrong to down 2 or 3 cans of soda each day... I don't know. I guess social inhibitions got the better of me...for the better. ;)
:toothless
But yeah - Arizona Green Tea with honey and ginseng. mmmmmmmm! |

awwwwww man dude...arizona green tea is isn't green tea with honey and ginsing
its high fructose corn syrup with honey and ginsing!
augh
it doesn't taste that bad, but its really not green tea
its like calling mcdonalds hamburgers real hamburgers
sure once in a while it may taste good, but that still doesn't make it a real hamburger
sry i'm a huge fan of green tea, real stuff
i've been to a green tea plantation in china, had stuff that they picked that morning :toothless:toothless:toothless |

Yeah, but it's cheap, plentiful, easy, and it tastes good. It's also a helluva lot better for you than soda. :D
I know it's not the real thing, but I'm not really cncerned with getting the 'real tea experience'. :p
Nothing shall beat the ultimate drink though:
:D |

yeah it does
in fact you can actually "wake up" better with a tall glass of water rather than coffee or coke. When you sleep you become dehydrated so water is much more beneficial than coke, coffee or orange juice. |

i used to be majorly addicted to tea and coke, but i stopped drinking that stuff
a few months ago i started drinking tea again and got addicted to it, but i stopped at the start of summer
now i've recently started drinking coffee again, which i used to drink a very long time ago, but then hated
anyway, i can feel a potential addiction coming on (this started after having 2 coffees in 6 days:nervous: ), i've since had 3 coffees in 2 days
i dont drink coke any more unless its with 40% alcohol
hope you enjoyed reading my story as much as i enjoyed typing it |
