• you can accelerate + brake at the same time, using the same foot!
• the car (not just the steering) is awfully light, especially in bad conditions, i managed to nearly spin out at 12mph

sounds fun! :wtf:

• once when reverse parking on a hill the car did not stall but the power steering and brakes cut out, the steering was extremely unresponsive even on full lock + the handbrake nearly snapped as i tried to stop the car, ask turner if you dont believe me

see that you're 18, do you have any no claims bonus?

nope, ive been on and off temp insurance contracts for the past year (insured as a 2nd driver) becuase i wasnt living at home all the time. Insurance for me will be £1100 min to about £1300 :( .

with you're current insurance state, i do believe, that technically, you are NOT insured to drive this fella's car. However, your sis may be able to if her insurance is fully comp and allows her to drive any other vehicle under 3rd party insurance only. Most policies do allow this, but it will only be for the policy holder, and not named drivers.

Saying that however, i think you will be allowed to drive it with th owner in, this is me referring back to being able to drive a car (as a learner) as long as the other person in the car is over 21?

If you want to go for something different, you could always consider a Nissan 200sx S13 ;) its an older sports coupe and is a group 16 unfortunately, but it is possible to get insured on one of thes at 18 for around 1600 quid...but you will have a faster and more stylish car than any of your mates ;) for starters it has a 170bhp 1.8 turbo engine ;)

or if you're utterly mental like one fella on the SX owners club you could go for the later model, called the S14a

and he has paid 4500 this year to insure it!!!!!

The only option you had was to let it roll down the hill and it nearly failed to do that :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

put it this way, i prefer driving my dad's rover metro 100 thing and that is a right heap in all fairness. saxo has a cd player, only reason why i drive it :stongue:

Well your dads metro has a Cd player if i remember correctly but did you not enter the radio code too many times incorrectly and has locked you out?

:haha: :haha: :haha:

I would offer a grand, whats the worst he going to say? No?

I looked at a punto 2 weeks ago with 2 mechanics from work, the kid wanted £2300 and they both condemed the car. Exhaust was blowing, engine was seaping oil like , clutch was dead.

So i just laughed and said no thank you. :)

no, it has a tape player which eats tapes. the thing broke and didnt accept a code and had to go to a rover garage for some manual override thing coz it ed when the battery went flat.

Got a new car :D

its not the one i was talking about earlier as that got sold before i went to view it.

My dad went down to a local auction and got me a red saxo 1.1 1997reg. Its done about 650000 miles and is in a decent condition. Paid £800 for it which seems ok, got a mechanic to check the engine as well and he said all is good :) .

Luke its not that bad a car. All the electrics are working fine and theres nothing wrong with the clutch. I see what you mean about the pedals though, they are tiny + very close together - not very safe if you have big feet. It also likes wheel-spinning a lot, but theres nothing wrong with that :P. Overall, quite a nice nippy wee car.

right, time to go buy 17" alloys, neons + a body kit :wtf:

for his first car that's fine, most people annihilate their first car within 2 years. either thro miss-use of clutch, thraping the engine, boy-racing, twatting the kerb, scrapes, crashes u name it.

its much better to gain them first 2 years of expirience of a car and then get a decent one.

my first was a citron AX, it wasnt a bad car actually.

my second is a mitsubishi which im doing up.
