| It sounds like this has been in the works since the whole Bush in the Texas National Guard thing... they want to make it seem like its his choice and that he wants to do other things but really I think they asked him to step down. If you ask me its about time. I never really liked the guy anyways. Hes a good reporter but he seems a little haughty. Give me Tom Brokaw any day of the week. :p |

Dan Rather was an ok reporter, but his struglle to be unbiased over the last 10-15 years has been legendary and well publicized. The National Guard story this year was only one piece of a well-documented puzzle showing Rather's (and the American Media as a whole) decline from non-biased media reporting, to using media as a pulpit from which to preach their views.
I, for one , am somewhat glad to see Rather go, but it still doesnt chnge the fact that there is no politically unbiased media outlet in America. Additionally, Tom Brokaw stepped down before Rather...I wonder why there was no thread about him considering Rather is regularly a distant third behind him and Peter Jennings in nightly ratings. |
