Need help setting up my guitar

Hey guys!
I have things set up like this at the moment.
Guitar --> Jp8080 instrument input --> Jp8080 out --> SBlive line in --> Amplitube in FL Studio.
I can't get a clean sound out of the guitar. The distortion presets sounds decent but the clean one's doesn't sound clean, it sounds slightly distorted and muffled.
Now, it could because of my guitar is crappy.
It's a Epiphone special model with two standard factory humbuckers on it.
But I think it has something to do with the synth it's plugged in to. The Jp8080 might not be the best thing to use as a preamp for the guitar.
Since I dont have a guitar preamp what can I use instead?
Can I use a mixer like this, BEHRINGER EURORACK UB1204PRO:

I'm also thinking of getting a new soundcard, been reading about the M-AUDIO Delta 44 card. Seems like a good card in my price range.
If I buy that card do I still need a preamp for my guitar?
Thanks.

I use the Art tube MP for mic/ e-guitar.

There's still a littlebit of humming because my guitar is a bit crappy but its ok.
I also use a behringer mixer but I wouldn't recommend it as a preamp because its a noise generator if you know what I mean ;-) |

That looks like a cool little box.
Doesn't run on batteries I hope.
Does it humm when you plug in your mic too or is it just the guitar?

| i think you've answered your own question really. you need a dedicated preamp. something like an m-audio audiobuddy would do and they are pretty cheap. shop around and you can find them for as low as £50 |

I been reading reviews about this piece on harmony-central now and
lots of people say that it's humming quite abit, some guy even used it to make his rhodes sound dirty. :o |

Alright, cheers mate!
Audiobuddy seems to be the thing I need. Reviews on it are good too, so I might get that one.
Thx! |

It doesn't humm when I just plug in my headphones and put volumes to max (and don't plug in anything at the input). I tried this with behringer too and the result was bad humming. There is also no noise when I record the mic. |
