flinging water at decks

jesus..

what idiots..

armand van buuren.. just shows disrespect at the person you're hiring and proves that the place was after $$$ and not armin playing there..

what kinda tunes were played???
PulseFusion
find and communication both got plays, and to good reception ;)...

edit: oh and need to feel loved was in there and went off too :D:D

apart from that i cant think of any other ones... mostly bassy sorta dutch harder(ish) trance... mostly fairly monotone... not the armin to expect. that said it was an awesome night and well worth the ticket. :D:D

maybe since everyone was calling him armand, he thought he had to play dirty bassy house ;) haha, nah was a well wicked night, I'm happy :D:D

Sounds kinda similar to the stuff he played in Melbourne. Plenty of prog house, and the trance he played at Summadayze was full of harder, more pounding bass lines and simpler melodies. It summed up his general direction when he played the Kyau vs Albert mixes of Find and Jump The Next Train, rather than the Andy Moor/Solarstone mixes. He’s playing far more techy stuff (Katana/Remy & Roland/Marco V) than he was 2 years ago, too.

Perhaps it’s not entirely accurate to class him as a trance DJ these days? He plays energetic, climactic party music when he plays live, and he’s still one of the best in the business at creating a sense of ‘journey’ throughout his sets. I’ve seen Armin play five times now, and I’ve never been left with the sense that he’s ‘just thrown some records together’. He’s always been bloody good fun to watch :)

Anyone got some more tracks that he played last night? It’d be good to see how his set differed from last weekend’s in Syd/Melb.
PulseFusion
yeah he played those (KvA) mixes here too... hehe, basically summed up what i was trying to say but in a better way.

couldnt tell u what other tracks he played though... to be honest i don't know them :p

was a ball nonetheless. he certainly is an entertainer.:)

automanual and till ya droP! would've gone absolutely fcckn off in a club

im waiting for one of the 5am dj's to play it.. either that or i will play it in a club one day when i get there :)
lady_apatheia
honestly, it was a VERY disappointing night for me. Like TCB have put it, there wasn't any "armin" style detected. I pretty much just stood at a corner for the last 45 mins of his set. Utter disbelief! But the crowd still apparently looks thoroughly entertained and having fun. *weird*

at least i got my CD signed, got a hug and my demo cd passed to Armin. Thanks Solace! You made me wanna dance up @ the bar when you played Dido's Sand In My Shoes. Absolute gem ;)

Nice meeting some of you. ;)

I dunno if any of you will actually read this or take into account what im saying... but i have to say it to some ppl who are into the music as really none of my friends are...

I go record shop after record shop in adelaide... and what do i see... Hard Nrg..House and hard trance.. nothing close to melodic/uplfiting/prog at all...which has made me buy 100% of my records off the net whyich is good, but also a hassle...

Adelaide has to be a complete joke to all international djs...the crowds they pull are pathetic, and prolly get more ppl at heaven going to those underage events than they do the probably the worlds most respected dj...

im playing at the next underage thing they got going down ere and i can expect to play to possibly 50 ppl or so.. while 1500 ppl will b posing to the RnB and model competitions they got going on in the main room...

This is a little strange because those ppl try as hard as htey can be to be "european"... trying to talk italian/greek whatevers.. wearing ONLY european labels, putting "Sick Wog" on their number plates etc and bad mouthing anything that isnt from that type of culture... but bag the music like its all the same as that rubbish remix of the national anthem...

I personally believe if we here in adelaide opened a record store.. promoting largely trance/prog etc and things such as this, that people would come out of their shell and admit to liking it.. or moving ppl from other scenes to ours...

Once i leave skool id love to open up my own club... but with the crowd and people playng being the main focus..
Because if you please the punters and the people playing your bound to get a better reaction from the public resulting in more publicity and a wider target market...

Sort of what Sydney has done with A Night Of Trance.... i know our scene wouldnt get the numbers htey do.. but we do have sumfing like 20-25% their populaiton so we cant expect 1500+ crowds everytime... but slowly build towards it...

BUT the biggest problem i see atm is the lack of youth enjoying trance in our community... I kno 1-2 other people who are actually trance heads... 1 of which i can only call a true trance fan...

If we dont start promoting this somehow to the younger audience.. i can see in 5 yrs or so there will be nothing of that sort of music left around which wil be an absolute bitch and a disgrace on our part...

Somehting has to be done seriously because to me.. trance music and djing is a large part of my life atm... i love it and my mind is warped by it.. so id go way out of my way to help see it flourish in the near future.. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this plz let me kno because if you ppl wanna still be clubbing in 7 or so yrs to ur trance.. their wont be many new faces around especially in the dj ranks ....

Eg handing out promo mixes etc...
I burn my mates sum trance/dance cds just to get them into it.. and from only listening to RnB this has sort of changed their views on dancem usic..

So maybe if anyone has any ideas such as sending promo cds out to the young audience etc...

Id be glad to help, eg burn handfulls and just hand them out to ppl interested jsut to give them an idea whats out their for them and what they can expect when they reach the legal age in the next 6-12 months....

Thanks for you who have read this little bitch lol

hope you all enjoyed armin as i had to sit round listening to another of his live mixes lol :(

Hi people.

I had a good night at Armin. It was a lot different to what I expected but I think I liked how he was trying something different. There were a LOT of tracks I didn't know, probably cos i haven't really listened to anything for the last 2 months. I was however very happy to hear that Tiesto song with the Indian feel to it, can't remember the name, its on his Parade of the Athletes sampler, its a very cool song. And it was great for him to finish with Till Ya Drop! That song is awesome, it was a pleasant surprise to hear it.

Heath sorry I didnt hang round for your set, was a bit tired. Hope it all went well, and whats with someone throwing water up there?!?! Thats a fkn joke!

Also shouts out to Phorte for actually turning up to a trance event :) and bigger shouts out to Petek for eating 7 cheeseburgers you fat c**t.

hehe i actually turned up!

but i agree with almost all reviews so far on here and also on raveadelaide.

adelaide has awlays been a joke when it comes to the good uplifting trance.

armin's set was too banging but he did dwell into a lil melodic tipped stuff. another one not mentioned was Synaesthesia remix which he dropped in the last third of the set. ppl went off so i wouldve hoped that at that point, armin thought to himself "hmm maybe its time to drop a few more melodic tunes!" but alas, he did not :(

great to meet a lot of ppl, which was long overdue.

although the set wasnt what i was expecting, i have to say i was no disappointed. seeing armin in the flesh and seeing his presence, body language and just plain seeing him enjoy himself was superb and left me with a smile on my face all night long.
