no they're not self sufficient.
To be in that position, they would need to control 25% of the world's reserves and production, which isn't the case. |

whoohoo!!! Prime Rate won't be going up after all, despite earlier indications that it would. Safe until the end of Jan'05, anyway ;)
That's good news for those of us with lines of credit and variable rate mortgages tied to the Prime rate (and myself, since I sell secured lines of credit at prime)

Where did it come from? The US... we ship them unrefined oil and gas and they send petrol back to Canada. The exchange rate evens out because the trade goes both directions. Classic reciprocal input/finished goods trade, been around since the colonial times.. but today we don't get as screwed. |

| yea me and greg had some trouble with the crashing and burning USD since we got a lot less bang for our buck when we went up there (and had a fabulous time...) needless to say we are getting a smaller xmas tree this year as a result.. |
