Opinions on which song is better.

Hi,
My friend and I are in the middle of a heated feud between each other. We both heard each other's song, and I like my own better, and he likes his own better. (figures huh?). So I was wondering what opinions anyone else has on it?

Sorry I don't know how to make links yet.

Anyway, one thing that I do like about my friends piece is the intensity. Its way much more exciting than mine. Can anyone tell exactly what he's doing to make it so intense?

Thanks a lot. This is my first time posting on this forum.

Starting with your track:
You don't seem to have a bassline in there at all which immediately makes the tune lose a great deal of drive and punch. Also, the synths sound very "softwarey", more tweaking/FX is needed. This is particularily noticeable in the piano - it just doesn't sound real but obviously sampled. The melodies are very nice otherwise.

Onto your friend's track:
This one is all over the place. It has ideas coming in an out at a waay too fast pace. Also, the way some synths are panned to the left side is just confusing. I'm not even going to mention the cheesiness of the vocal (oops, I just did... oh well).

All in all, I'd say your track is better because it's more focused whereas your friend's track is bouncing all over the place not really knowing what direction it wants to go.

Thank you mystery for your reply.

Can I ask you in more detail what you mean by bassline? I've studied many trance songs and most of the time the bassline is just the same quarter note repeated over and over, one eighth offset from the kick.

The trouble is I cannot hear a bassline in your track at all, so either there isn't one or it's pushed so far back in the mix that it's not noticeable.
