Tehran decides to freeze all its nuclear program
MIL, Nov 27, 2004. Special Correspondent
Iran finally decided and greed to freeze all its nuclear program on Friday and dropped its insistence that its 20 uranium enrichment activities should be exempted from a deal with the International Atomic Energy Agency. IAEA cameras instead of being sealed would monitor the centrifuges, which are crucial to the enrichment process, which Iran has agreed.

>>The rest
There you have it. No more plans to build nuclear weapons. Now move on to the next country. Which country is next?

no offence to anyone here, but you're a fool to take this at face value without verification. and that doesn't mean a bunch of cameras
for some IAEA peep show.
just a little advice. |

It doesn't hurt to be a bit optimistic at times. ;)

True, but on the other side of things, one is a fool for demanding proof of a negative as well. A mistake we've been guilty of at least once in the past ... |

Yes, and I am in full support of verifying their compliance. Notice I said the flipside of being the fool in accepting them at their word is to demand proof of a negative. Therefore, the burden is upon the international community to prove that they are not in compliance and are in fact developing nuclear weapons, as opposed to demanding proof that they are not developing weapons. I could demand proof that you are not selling drugs, and despite the fact that you willingly allow us to examine your daily life, I could still say that there could be something that we do not see and therefore the fact that we cannot prove that you are not selling drugs is proof that you are selling drugs. Proving a negative is inherentely flawed.

Ummm, ok and what does our "record" in Iran or South America speak of our desire to spread democracy? The "record" means absolutely nothing when it comes to the facts of the present. |

this experiment of yours would be valid. however, they have already admitted to "selling drugs" and are currently defending their right to "sell drugs". they, by their own admission, have committed research for trafficking their "drugs" on the tip of one of their missiles. their means are not up for debate. their motives are.

Are we speaking of Iran or Iraq? I need clarification.

No, it's part of our "record". It has just as much substantive explanation of our ambitions in the middle east as taking Iran or Iraq's previous desires to develop nuclear weapons as evidence of their current motivations or the state of their weapons programs. |
