can't play avi files

| someone on TA posted a link to an avi file of armin and harry lemon i think at ibiza or something. after downloading it i couldnt play it. i had sound but the video was like a funny green colour with jagged lines through it. i found some program that lists any codecs you need and i updated them and downloaded the latest version of divx player. however it still doesnt work. i can convert it to mpg format with another player but the filesize becomes huge. so as far as i can tell i have the latest codecs and players for this operating system (windows 2000 professional) but i can't play avi videos. it doesn't work in winamp, quicktime or divx video player and windows media player shows like a second or someting every now and again before going back to the green. umm any clues?? |

| well it could be divx, xvid, and if sounds also distorted you might need AC3 codecs. |

Try Video Lan Cone best player out there unless you need to play .wmv files then get BS player not a good as VLC but still bettter than the other e. .wmv files suck anyways. If you need to play real player files get real alternative its real player without all the ghey popups and web links.
http://www.videolan.org/ Video Lan cone it rules its free as in beer. play .ogg containers support multi languages, multi video for subs, etc etc.

I use only these three I can play any file I get and I have not downloaded a single codec. |

VLC plays in' anything, it's great. The GUI looks kinda crappy though. :( |

| You should have a programm in your Xvid folder named "four cc Changer".Start this programm,open the video file and change both boxes to divx. Then it should work. |
