Some classic Hubble shots:

I read a magazine article a while back saying that all those galaxies and are too far away for us to tell the colors perfectly, so people just make up the colors to add effect for all of us avid cosmo lovers.

regardless, very cool

Correct. Alot of the images you see are false coloured, meaning they added the colours.
Halcyon+On+On
Yeah, most of the cool pics we see have a lot of false-color added to them, but there's still a lot we can derive from infra-red photos. And, as you said, very cool stuff, regardless. :happy2:

It's amazing to think about color though - a hawk circling over a field can see over 500 MORE shades of green than the human eye can so that it can discern this plant from that one and see mice crawling through the foliage a lot better. The human eye is so limited, despite the MILLIONS of colors and shades we can see - the spectrum of color almost seems limitless...it's a shame that we shall never live to experience all the color of the universe. All that will suffice is the imagination of such dreams - we create them by adding to photos such as these. ;)

I don't know if this one is art or the true heavens - but what's the difference, and does it truly matter?

Can any of you lucid dream? I can, and it's really nice to fly faster then the speed of light and stop at galaxies and just stare at them :] Its beautiful, untill you wake up.
