Interesting idea... I've been looking for something like this.

quote:
What is life like for ordinary Iraqis and others caught up in events? We are publishing a range of accounts here from people inside Iraq about how they, their families and friends live day to day and what the bigger events in the headlines mean to them.

I breezed through it, but it looks terrible for the ordinary Iraqi. Terrorists and insurgents fighting daily and they are caught up in the middle. I guess the bottom line is who they want to see in power in the end run, a legitimate Iraqi free government or a government run by the terrorists and insurgents. One direction has hope and the other is back to the sullen life they led under the repressive Saddam dictatorship. Times are tough. Would like to see the people themselves take more responsibility in supressing some of the violence. For instance, why do they allow idiots to lob mortars at allied troops in their front yards when a counterfire is forthcoming which could kill their children. Aand why do they let insurgents dig roadside bombs in their backyard to kill Allies when they know the reaction will be severe with household searches and violence within their neighborhoods as a result.

Seems the normal Habib is too scared of the insurgency to stop it when the people themselves have the power to do so.
