1...I am not a promoter in the employed way...I co-run the Guv's fansite www.luvtheguv.com and we promote events there...
2...I am NOT slagging the Docks...It is a great Venue...
3...If you think that the Docks will not be rammed that night, well, I forsee a big surprise...
The only way Tiesto would come to the Docks that night is if they give him A HUGE piece of the door (rumour has it 75-85%...that # is a rumour)...This guy is going to prolly going to make 100 G's plus in 6 hrs.
And The Docks mngmt will try and recoup some of that money by selling ALOT of tix...
We'll have to see what happens...
Look...I'm just trying to get ppl to support a local DJ who everyone knows is 1st rate...Tiesto is WAY over-rated and even DJ Mag is regretting choosing him as #1 in the world (their opinion of him due to an "incident" to follow)
The choice is up to you folks...I'm just suggesting a better alternative...
And its my B-day so I want a good turnout...
Hell...Do both...The Guvernment is not raising prices at all that night...

IMO - Nice site, not all that classy co-owner (based on how you've responded here, could be wrong though, actions speak louder than words).

You sure pick a piss-poor way to do it. Frankly I believe you've done Mark Oliver more of a dis-service by using tactics like you have (mind you, I don't speak for Mark Oliver, just myself).
We all know that Mark O is a damn machine, a phenominal DJ and a gentleman. We all respect him and adore the work he does - I think he knows that too by the number of TOTAs that show up early to hear him, and stay late to close the club with him.

lol, if you're promoting the event at the guv and offering list you're a promoter......and trashing tiesto becuase he may take some of your regulars away is low....
who gives a how much he's making...why does it bother you so much...people want to go hear him spin and if he gets rich off it good for him...i find it funny that you tell people to be prepared for the docks to be rammed and yet the biggest complaint week after week is that the guv is a sardine factory...
worry less about what the competition is doing and spend more effort promoting your own product

and Barfly...Every time we talk, have I ever slagged another club in order to attract ppl to the Guv??...You were always nice to me to my face...
You ppl haven't a clue as to who I am or what I am about...
But whatever....I dont care...
I don't get paid for what I do...My reward is ALOT of great friends, and even more good times...
You wanna go to Tiesto...fine...have a blast...great...
But pls don't talk about me when you don't know me at all...and especially when I don't have any idea as to who the hell you are...

DJ Magazine ridiculed their Top 100 poll winner Tiesto as an egotistical monster who's lost all grip on reality this week, after the Dutch trance star failed to turn up at their top 100 winners party in London.
According to the magazine, the Dutch star pulled out just hours before the party was due to start because he was struggling to perfect a magic trick for a dance festival scheduled the next day, prompting an enraged response from the British mag.
“Since his shock win in 2002, Tiesto has been feeding his ego with a score of high profile events; gigs in football stadiums, a gig in New York’s Central Park- a gig at the ing Olympics,” DJ sneered.
“Fair play, no other top 100 winner has used the title for such shrewd and calculating PR. He’s the biggest DJ on the planet . . . but boy does he know it,” they added.
The mag went on to highlight the fact he’d got a mate to mix last year’s compilation Tiesto Presents Magik Muzik when he won last year and also mocked his choice of rider for this year’s event which included booze, Red Bull and a selection of cheeses.
“Rock stars ask for mountains of cocaine and racks and racks of whores,” they scoffed. “It says a lot for dance music when Tiesto is happy with a cheese ing sandwich.”
Elsewhere in the same issue, club reviewer Paul Clarke was equally scathing in a review of the night, focusing on the moment when editor Lesley Wright announced him as a no-show.
“There’s an understandable sense of disappointment from some corners of the crowd- alongside a sigh of relief from those of us who’d prefer to solder our ear together than actually have to listen to his turgid tosh (rubbish- slang Ed),” he spat.
“Much as we respect our readers’ choice, we don’t actually have to agree with it, you know?”
Tiesto’s fall from grace could present opportunities for Armin Van Buuren, who came third in this year’s poll with a DJing style apparently based on minimal record shopping and relentless repetition. The Dutch trancer’s technique was revealed in a press release for his forthcoming mix compilation Universal Religion 2004, Live From Armada in Ibiza, which captured one of his seven acclaimed Amnesia sets this summer.
“This is a collection of summer memories from one of dance music’s heroes of the moment,” the press release explained. “The 14 tracks on Universal Religion 2004 could be heard in almost every set Armin played in Ibiza.” |

and i don't know who you are from these posts....if we've met that's cool and you probably know i'm a stand up guy...i don't slag anyone for any reason....i'm just commenting on your negative posts...post positive things about the guv and leave it at that....when you go negative on other events while promoting one you're associated with it doesnt' look good, thats all i'm saying |

here are my opinions...
teisto is overated, mark is brilliant, genuine and spins for the crowd, not for the money. personally, and please keep in mind you know NOTHING about my character, but i work rather see mark over teisto and pretty much anyone else any other day.
nick (using my name) was in no way shape or form bashing teisto or the docks, i agree with him when he says it will be rammed. i was at the gift last year and it was just the right amount of busy.
as for the 'soon all guv will have is sketch pad' comment, there will always be anywhere, but again the night and place is what you make of it. anyone who stays away from guv on any night is missing and amazing performance from an amazing and unrated DJ.
so go where you want...personally i'm happy some of this negativity won't be at the gift.
