Well so far the cheapest price i can find for a cdj800 from what is an authorized dealer is 495 at etronics.com

So if anybody out there knows of anywhere that sells it lower, let me know.

Also, has anybody in the us bought from "Sam Ash"?
Do they match prices like guitar center does?
Thanks.
Geoff
ooh i wouldn't mind gettin some cdj 800s for $430

keep us posted
Psiweaver
Damn good price on those cdj's

getting a lil discount through djtranz is sweet, i got one for my hdj's, BUT beware that this means you will get it shipped to you, and i had to pay 70 dollars canadian for them to bring it through customs, cause they only ship via ups (not sure if thats changed now).

also, with denons, the 5000 has some badass features on it, but unless you are only a bedroom dj, keep in mind that the 1000 is the standard, so all the fun stuff you can do at home on your 5000's is pretty much useless at a club (unless you bring it yourself, which some sound guys hate heh)

Are you talking about cd players? or headphones? Because you said "hdj's" Does that mean you had to pay 70 bucks to get 100 and something dollar headphones accross the border?

yes, headphones, hdj 1000's. and yes again, i paid them 70 dollars to pretty much fill out a form, that was not including the shipping cost. it sucked.

Well, I phoned customs, and they told me i would not have to pay duty, just canadian taxes once i bring it across (14, or 14.5%) But thats not big deal because obviously i would pay those same taxes in Canada. My mum didnt beleive that i wouldnt have to pay any duty, so she phoned up some border canada thing, and they said the same thing (no duty.)

I just have to hope that guitar center will match them down below 500 us. Hopefully whatever salesman i get will be desperate, and match that 430 deal.
mikefasssy
its not a duty charge, its how much ups charges you to bring it across the border. i was super pissed and phoned them up and asked why it cost 70 extra dollars and they just gave me the round-a-round on the phones. didn't even get a real answer from anyone, just some nonsense about filling out forms etc

alternative: don't use ups if possible

As long as the weather is half decent tomorrow, my parents' car will be bringing it across the border.:)

I'm happy i'll be going this route, as i've heard some horror stories about damaged equipment due to ups, or fedex.

Double post:

Two questions for you american folk.
1.
From your experiences, would most guitar centers have cdj800s in stock? Perticularly the ones in Washington, such as their lynwood location, or tacoma.

2.
Has anyone had any luck getting them to match agiprodj.com's prices? Agipro is an authorized dealer, but they only give you low price quotes via email. If I print out the email, and show them it, should they price match it?

Thanks.

For question 1, they seem to have a lot of things in stock, and for something as common as the CDJ-800's, I'd assume they'd have em. If not, the salesperson might be able to locate another pair at another store and you can pick it up at the other store or he can ship it to the current store and you can pick it up there, or he can ship it to your home, etc. He'll want to do everything possible to sell it to you so he can get the comission on it.

For question 2, I'm not sure if their policy has to do with matching advertised prices or sale prices. It might be at the discretion of the salesman, because you can always just say that if he can't get it to you at that price you'll just buy it online(he doesn't need to know your situation). It's better for him to still sell you it because the company is losing the difference, not him. He might make a little less on the comission but it won't be much because its only a fraction of the difference, and it's better than making no comission.
