5. NO, the only thing i am thinking about doing is using serato so that i dont have to spend as much moeny on vinyl. of couse i will still buy records for those crazy whitelabels, and the really bangin tracks taht you must have on vinyl. but using serato to play off CDs and yes the occasional MP3, but only if it has never been released on CD or vinyl. |

1. My current set up for gear was around $3,000 Canadian. And another $3,000 on records. I've made around $1500 from DJing off and on in the past 3 years
2. Wanted the stuff for about 1 1/2 years before I bought anything.
3. Vestax Mixers, Technics Tables, there are about 7 record labels I frequent.
4. I'm stopping May 26 2008- no I'm just kidding. I'll DJ as long as I get some sort of satisfaction out of it. Or until I go deaf.
5. Never regret getting started. It's a hobby, every hobby costs money.
Good luck with the project:tongue3 |

I know these seem like odd questions, but I'm not supposed to be getting hard numbers, I'm supposed to determine how devoted, and how long term the market will be.
When our marker read over our survey ideas he said
"how many djs do you know that would answer to this?"
I say "a fair amount"
And he goes "are you sure? Theres only a limited number of radio stations in the area"
I say "no people do it as a hobby at home, or in clubs"
He says "oh, I see, like pokemons?"
I think he'll be surprised to see the money that people spend on this hobby, versus the return. |
1.lets see - $200 for the package, $40 on my 2nd set of needles, $100 on headphones, $50 on a new record bag, probably around $130 or so on vinyl... so far about $520ish
2.about 6 months
3.none in particular so far
4. yea, even if i never get big it'll always be a hobby, never played an instrument that fit me as smoothly as a turntable
5.no, if anything i save as much as i can for vinyl, VAS is a really bad thing to have:D
btw your teacher is a douche bag - pokemon has nothing to do with being any type of DJ, let him know that DJing is as common as guitarists and Drummers |

i'd be glad to help you in your survey :)
1. spent approx. 1800€ in total, earned 100€ :p
2. none, because my brother first bought equipment, but i became more interested in it than he, so i got on with it and later on bought some more equipment :)
3. Stanton
4. As long as I can & have the time for it
5. never considered stopping, costs a lot of money though :) |
|

| Koolaid |
1. ~ $40,000 - $50,000 spent (unsure of earnings but over 15 years, probably somewhere near 300,000 or more)
2. 4 years
3. Technics
4. 'til I die
5. No regrets
I think you left out a very important question...
How long have you been a DJ. |

1. I've spent thousands on gear and records and i'm now after 3 years beginning to see a small return on my investment. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication
2. It took me about a year before i finally bought my first record
3. technics, pioneer, sony
4. i'm definitely not going to be djing my whole life, but i imagine i'll wind up in production or audio engineering, a moke "behind the scenes" role
5. I don't regret what i've done, it's what i haven't done that i regret |
