Banners...

I understand that you need banners to get money etc,
but currently there are those banners of "smileycentral"...
I would like to refer this url.
Basically it pretty much screws up your computer from what i can read there... Perhaps you should consider WHICH banners you show on your webpage or something ?
Just a thought, not meant offensive... Some innocent people without a lot of computer knowledge might suffer from it...

That sounds like you're trying to advocate annoying popups by saying "but they're so easy to get rid of!". |

ur missing the point of pop-up's. swamper doesnt have pop-up's just to annoy us, there a source of income to pay for ta.
if we all ran pop-up blockers and ignored every pop-up he posted, he'd lose alot of advertising revenue.
we should all do our bit to support ta by clicking a pop up everytime we use the site, even if we close it after, still counts as a click for tranceaddict. or just wander around their site for a few seconds. |

also the admin and mods could solicit more donations, in creative abd subtle ways of course. how about posting a list of donators much like universities and charity organizations do? donators could choose to have their name listed, could choose to remain anonymous, or donate in the name of another TA.
it think this might encourage donations without excerting undue or unfair pressure on those that can't donate because of their place in life. another option could be to include or not include the amount donated. (i don't like this one though because it might divide TAs. a simple list could work though. |

Just a few thoughts here for what they are worth..and before u say this guy only registered in dec 2004 what would he know(its been said allready on other posts ive made)i only registered so recently because of a lack of affordable broadband in my area and could not fully get the benifit of TA..ie downloads..but ive lurking here a long time..anyway here goes starting with the most controversial probably
(1) an annual subscription...an annual sub of canadian $5 dollars is less than 1.5 cent per day an annual sub of $10 dollars is less than 3 cent per day hardly a fortune even for a teenager...this idea could be expanded upon to give say 3 months free access to new members so as not to deter people and give them a good idea of what TA is all about and after 3 months well up to them.
(2) a one time only payment of say canadian $10 dollars for lifetime membership again run on the scheme in (1) above
(3) an obligatory popup before u can enter the site..again controversial
(4) spaceys idea of a donation i think is a good one no pressure on anyone but i think u would be surprised with results
anyway the above are just examples..as i thought of them..but i think the membership base here is solid and i think once people knew that the money wasnt just lining a few peoples pockets but for improvements on the site etc i think u could be surprised at peoples willingness to pay something no matter how small but i think most importantly be creative in your approach..
anyway ill probably get flamed for posting this..but hey i can handle that
it would make an interesting thread in its own right throw the question right open but not by somebody that joined Dec 2004
maybe spacey would take up the challange ? thats if it aint been done before
