Is Texas a good place to live?

I've heard so many stories of 6 fingered people, huge red mullets, 10 guns per house, George Bush, only being able to eat at McDonalds, big hats and girls with funny teeth.
Any truth to these rumours? |

I'm not gonna sit here and say that if you drive an hour outside of houston/dallas/san antonio, you wont see rednecks, hunters, ranchers, country folk. I mean you will. But i've travelled enough to learn that nearly every state has their version of white trash and rednecks. We ofcourse are notorious for it, cuz texas has so much landmass with only 3 major cities.
However, when you live in the 4th largest city in the nation, and the person blabberin about texas is from no-name yankee town, you gotta wonder why he's talking.
Basically, we dont mind it, but What bothers us is when they categorize us "city folk" with it. Cuz its almost hypocrisy. Chances are the town they live in, is the size of our stadium, and what we would consider "small town folk".
I've been to Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego, and land wise, Houston dominates all of them.
also, with 15+ years of travelling, if ive learned anything, its that Houston has some of the best looking women in the nation. EVERY houstonian will vouch for that. Its just known that we have GOOD LOOKING women here. Outside the city, its up in the air.
But, other than the women, houston is a pretty boring city. Its very commercial, non-leisure. |

| Its true, but I don't think you'll catch any of those billies listening to trance music so we don't have to really worry about it. |

| I hate all the typical Texas stereotypes. No we do not all own guns or wear big hats or ride horses. As for rednecks you'll find them in areas outside of the big metropolitan cities in TX. For the most part the bigger cities in TX are quite multicultural IMO Houston has the largest variety of people. As for George Bush not everyone in TX supports that idiot and his redneck agenda. |

yea there are mullets here and there along with mcdonalds in just about every town.. but then again.. mcdonalds is all over the place - i prefer sonic, wendys, and Jack in the box
according to my gf's mom we have some of the best mexican food restaurants which is very true
there are girls w/ funny teeth but that can be found anywhere.. |

| Texan women are the hottest women period. You'll also notice that most Texans are real 'down-to-earth', laid-back & friendly. |

well I can mainly speak for houston...which is really diverse. however we are taking over...:happy2: Af for rave scene or EDM support there isn't much.
I'd be careful going to some of those small towns were you get looked at crazy for not being white.:stongue: There's a couple of them. |

| After living in Amarillo and going to high School and coming back to San Antonio ..... Texas Deserves some of the stereotype but San Antonio is trying to Mulitcultural( SP). As for Dance Music ... DAllas and Austin are Miles better than San Antonio IMO.But I get picked on for taste of music Since I am A BIG HOUSE FAN! |
