what's up peeps? I just started working on a remix a couple of days ago and i am having trouble trying to get the vocals stretched to fit my track. the the vocals were recorded for the original track at 125 bpms. the remixed track, i am working on, i would like to be around 135bps. what is the easiest way, if any,to do so. i have tried with sound forge, and had no luck. any help would be greattly appreciated.
peace,

sound forge -> time stretch, set the percentage to 135/125 * 100 = 108.00%
one thing, stretching vocals that much may not work nicely, you may have to make your remix a bit slower. good luck |

What Robert Nickson said is really good offcourse. :)
You may also want to consider to slice the vocals ( hardly any pitch change will occur ). :) |

Appreciate the the input guys. will try both methods and see wich one yields better results. About the slicing? do i just slice the individual words and just arrange them to the beat as they best fit? Is this the be the best way to do it with out changing the pitch? thanks again!

Slicing every word is very good. :) The smaller the slices are, the better. :p
There are also software packages like cubase that can create slices for you and put the sliced sample at the desired bpm. ( although i believe it's purpose is for grooves/drums ) :) |

Hi there,
From my experience timestretching never worked, at least for me.
The best solution in my opinion is Acid Pro. I hope you are aware of it. I use it for years now and it can perform miracles. I just finished two remixes on a track and the original tempo of it was 117bpm. The first remix is drum'n'bass on a tempo of 145bpm and the second a trance mix on 135bpm. In both cases the singer sounds just like she sung faster for the purposes of the remix.
Using Acid Pro won't save you from cutting and slicing the vocals. You probably will always have to do that to get the vocals correctly synchronized. But at least in the end you get what you want.
PM me if you like for more info.
