Dominican Republic by a long-shot.
While both countries are lovely, I will generalize because this is absolutely a reflection of reality. If I were in the airport watching two flights depart, I could pick out the Cuba-bound crowd and the Domincan-bound crowd 100% of the time. Cuba is marketed in this country as an affordable vacation spot because Cuba has no legal tourism with the USA. Consequently Canada (and the UK) are targeted heavily. They have such a great relationship with this country that it even so happens that they are taxed lighter than every other Caribbean destination by something like $70-100.
Sorry if this seems elitist, but I personally don't really like partying with crazy mullet-sporting bangers. Cuba = Bangers. Period.
I love the DR because (IMO) there is no other island as genuinely proud of their country and their people are the most genuinely friendly to tourists, both in and out of the tourist areas.
Brugal Rum all the way. |

lets not beat around the bush.
If you want to vacation with Canadians and europeans go to cuba. Because of the US and Cuba's shady history, there are no Americans in cuba. Im sure everyone has their own opinion, likes or dislikes of vacationing americans.
No offense intended. Personally, i dont care about a persons passport when i vacation and have no problems with any group. |
