Cher-Believe-Voice Edition Question.

Hey i am sure all you remember the song from cher believe that was hiting the top ten lists some years ago,I am wonder,what do you need to make a singer sound with the same effect like she used in that track?you know that effect like flanger with pitches etc,I would really apreciate fi someone could give me some tips about how to make that great effect very common in Trance and Dance Tracks,thanx in advance :).

I think it was done with some kind of auto-tuner, which was turned right up.
It does sound crap and unnecessary in most songs though, especially if you've got emotional-sounding vocals it would ruin their effect. But you're the producer, the whole point of making your own music is that you can do whatever the hell you want :) |

the cheer vox was done with antares autotune, with the heaviest settings of tuning.
That blue-track sounds like they used some formant-shaping-thingy. Probably one of rolands products, i remember they released a sampler some years ago that worked alot with formants and stuff...you could easily do harmonies with it...don't remember the name of the product tho.... |

actually it wasnt...the guy used an old digitech Vocoder and used a nord for the carrier signal, But yes you can esily use auto-tune for this. |

I recall reading an inteview with the producer of that track of cher,
it was indeed(as many have stated here) autotune and NOT vocoder.
the chorus ( I think) in this track, doesnt contain any toneheights ( dont know if this IS in fact an english word) between half ( or even whole) notes. so it directly goes from one note to the other if it's get closer to the second note. which sounds very 'unreal'. |
