Restaurant Experience Extraordinaire

So my buddy Jay and I were thinking of what to do last night and we thought, "Lets go down to Paramount and seeing what's playing".
We get there and there really isn't anything we want to see.
We stop in Chapters for a second to check a few books out and then we realize we're pretty hungry at this point.
Since he works at The Keg downtown on York street he said that he could get a deal on the meal. So looking forward to that, we make the trudge over to the steaks that are dancing round our heads making us silently drool.
We get to the restaurant and to say it was busy would be an understatement. It looked like a giant foot came down and stepped on an ants' nest. The wait for a table for 2....45 min :wtf:
We decide that's too long and back into the cold we go; now where?? :sadgreen:
We walked by "Hy's" but we weren't really dressed for that and then we stumbled across, "Red's".
Looks nice, don't need a tux for this place so we say, what the hell...
This was the beginning of what was to become, what must have been, celestial intervention.
The decor, service and food were nothing short of amazing.
Both Jay and I have quite a bit of restaurant experience behind us (him back in the kitchen area; me serving) and could not find one little thing wrong the whole night.
Our server (later we find his name is Phillip and he been serving for just over 20 years) was awesome and we heartily thanked him for a great experience and left him a nice tip (30%).
He thanked us both for our compliments and before checking the money we left (this is importment), asked if we'd like to try some rose champagne from the Niagra Region, on him. :eyespop:
We both look at each other and say, "Sure! Why not?"; we didn't have an itinerary for the night anyways.
In short, sometimes when things don't go initially planned, there are always things around that corner that will amaze you.
I never cease to be amazed... :tongue2

...an added value bonus: my buddy paid for the night after "dragging me around" lol :p

Where abouts is "Reds"? What kind of food do they serve?

Sounds like an awesome experience.

It's on Adelaide, in the First Canadian Place building. Very nice restaurant.

With all the restaurant talk, we could easily fuel a TOTA restaurant review forum. ;)
