Adventjah brisbane report

was looking foward to last nights event but what a huge let down.talk about reverb and distorted bass, the tin sheds were doing no favours for the high/low Freq and it was a total mess. angeli and nelson did this intro which was basically "lets screw everyones ears up for the rest of the night"people were actually vacating the area holding their fingers in their ears, mine are still screwed and im getting random bursts of noise which ive never had before, i've been to many events in other states where its been nothing like this, .the sound system just couldnt take it, the songs sounded so similar/as in the only difference was a different/harder drum beat, the builds ups were a mess/just distorted heaven and vocals, well if you could translate them good on ya! i went over to the happy hardcore area which had an insulated roof/walls and yup it sounded clear, you could actually understand the MC, just shows how much insulation does for a room...

i wouldnt have a clue as to what songs most of the Djs played, A&B did played their remix of madonnas song ....

i had big hopes for adventjah it was a bit of a letdown.

there was a pretty poor showing in some rooms and the sound system was what you'd expect in a tin shed - very reverby.

I missed agneli & nelson (luckily?) but did manage to catch some of above and beyond's set.. which wasn't all that inspiring.

in the main room, K90 and Nick Sentience rocked it despite all the sound difficulties. The fire twirling/fireballs act was very cool also.

I was so excited for my first OZ-Rave!

First to the good thins: I met many nice people like Cameron (Elemance) and his friends. Rop Tisseras Set was awesome. I'm sorry but that's it!

When I heard about a big Rave in Brisbane and when I looked at the flyer, I expected the ultimate big, awesome, crowdet event with thousends of peoples (and at least hundrets of nice chicks *lol*). To spend 70 bugs for a party hurts my wallet. But for a real good event with a high standard of DJ's, the location, the lightshow and the decoration, it will be worth. But what I get was worth no more then 30 bugs! I agree to the boring Agnelli&Nelson-set (by the way, Ferry Corsten @ Family the day before was about the same) and the soundquality in some Floors. The worst was the 'FUZE Old Skool Vs NuSkool'. The DJ's gave their best, but stay away 3meters from the speakers and you could hear anything from the floors on the right and the left, but not what you wanted to hear. The DJ Times behind the decks and on the flyer where also not always the same. That's why I missed Nik Fish.

After all, I had lot of fun, even I couldn't drink as much beer as I wanted to (I just didn't expect that I have to pay 5 bugs for a beer...) and even there was just a hand full of really nice girls (the most of them girlfriends of DJ's $ ). But this can't be the future of Trance Partys!!! There must be a change!

The tin sheds really ted me off sound quality was pissweak and the dj box looked very unimpressive lighting wasn't too bad. Agnelli & Nelson weren't very impressive. I quite enjoyed the Above & Beyond set it had its moments. Scott bond also did well playing some nice tunes. I only had 2 hours sleep from the previous night which was Ferry Corsten @ the family and the tin shed atmosphere wasn't really getting me in the mood. The venues looked like im sure everything would have seemed a lot better if the venue was decent.

Ferry blew the roof off when he dropped punk everybody was singing along and having a great time. He was really approachable and signed 3 of my gouryella vinyls. Couldnt believe my ears when he closed his set with Gouryella - Gouryella it was aweomse.

Was very dissapointing indeed. I spent 90% of the time in the "Drop" progressive & breaks room.

Steve Gerrard rocked it with some sweet smooth melodic prog.

The last few Advent*jahs were fantastic. The sound quality in those sheds are always crap but the atmosphere and the tunes usually make up for that, but this time it was severely lacking in all areas :(

oh well I hope it comes back bigger and better next year.

Will you be going to see Armin at Summafielddayze on the Gold Coast?

The summerfielddayze earlier this yeah was *MUCH* better than Adventjah.
Lots of girls in bikinis, beers in the sun in a park next to beach. Good Stuff :D

Though the last time the toilet queues were INSANE! :nervous:

I must agree, Adventjah was a little disappointing - imo it scraped to be worth the 55 bucks I paid. I enjoyed Mayhem far more despite the lack of trance.

Perhaps it was because I saw the best (Ferry) the previous night... how can you top that?

Anyway, Slinky had sound problems, but wasn't totally bad... far more disappointing was the lack of the crowd... even Above & Beyond played to a half-filled hall. For some reason, I kept thinking, "Man, none of these guys will ever come back to Brisbane!" :(

It was my first Adventjah but I was expecting something far bigger... but apparently I'm not alone, people across the board said last year was better.

i'm just glad i got in free!

due to the lack of people it will be interesting to see if there is ever another adventjah in brissy...

edit: bring on summafieldayze!

i had alot of fun opening up the trance room. pity no one was really there at that time to get the only real taste of Trance that wasn't euphoric or banging. was good fun tho, i love playing in those big rooms, even tho the sound is shyt, its fun to be on such a big stage.

these are the trax i played during my back2back set..

kobbe & austin leeds - fusing love (austin & schulz mix)
empire state - niagara (espen & elusive mix)
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know (Ozgur Can Dub)
Leama & Moor - Fact of the Matter
Probspot - Satisfaction

but yer the night was a downer for me, as i got real sick at about 1pm which ended my night. spent the rest of that nite and the next day violently spewing up :( must of been something in those $5 tiny cups of bourben or the warm beer.

after about 9pm the rest of the nite was quite banging. not real much to do and see for me as i like melodic and smooth, which wasn't left.

was good to meet you revibe. sorry to not of caught up again later, i just got sick. still want you to play on my radioshow next month ;)
