Christopher Lawrence - Around the world (2001) is a pretty good defintion of prog trance

Northern Exposure is oldksool stuff - but awesome all the same

Digweed has a couple of rippers from late 90's early naughties

Check out some BT

Some older Sean Quinn and Mark Dynamix Ministry of sound cd's

even some of the old Seb Fontaine cd's are pretty trancey

Even though it's gone to recently, some of the earlier GU releases still stand the test of time. GU 06, GU 013, GU 016 and GU024 are amongst the better ones with the sort of sound your after (especially check out Sasha's GU013 - some smart arses will tell you that it's over-rated, but I listened to it for the first time in a while out in the sun the other day and man, it's every bit as perfect as it ever was). Haven't heard them, but Paul Oakenfold's GU CDs might be up your alley as well.

Other prog-trance albums I can recommend from my own collection are James Holden's Fear of a Silver Planet, Hernan Cattaneo's Rennaissance Masters CD from last year and Red Jerry's Nu Progressive Era (I'm suprised this still plays properly in my player given how much I've listened to it over the past 3-4 years).

Balance 01 still stands the test of time 4 years on. This was released back in the days before Sean Quinn became an anti-trance drone, so it has some pretty damn nice melodic stuff on there.

Oh, I'd never, ever forget Kasey Taylor's Balance CD. Easily the best of the series imho, just probably not the sound that michia's looking for.

(Man that part where the beat kicks back in during his own remix of Bluephaze - The Bell, though... ing orgasmic. :p)

Sander Klienenberg's essential mix of the year 2001 is top notch prog

You could try Tiesto's [yeah I said Tiesto] debut essential mix as well, he was going through a progressive phase when he recorded it [sept 9, 2001]

John Digweed's Hong Kong Global Underground CDs

I'm not sure if this one would qualify totally as just progressive trance, but it's a good mix of music that's got a lot of melody without the 'uplifting' feel, is Ashley Casselle's Essential Mix [jan 12, 2003].

EDIT: If you want something a little more fierce sounding than the stuff up there, I'd be more than happy to make a few recommendations, and or leave my soulseek on for a long time.

Phil K's Breaks CD in Balance 04 is the best of the lot imo. But not really what minchia wants.
