In Search of Classic Essential Mixes

Since I spent most of the better part of last month downloading this year's essential mixes in turn, it got me started and sparked my interest in digging back in history to the 'good old days'.
Maybe it's just an obsession with the roots of today's music, or just wanting to have a more complete collection, I was wondering if anyone out there knows where I can find those older essential mixes [circa 93-97~98], prior to me actually getting in the scene. If anyone can help me out, knows a decent place to find them, or collects them and doesn't mind me leeching off them on soulseek for about 3 months, let me know!! |

I used to have all those old 99' Oakenfold essential mixes, but have since lost/deleted all but the Rojan in Shanghai, if you say they're on soulseek, I'll go looking, and if not, you mind if I grab some of them off you?
I liked those sets from 99 a lot...It reminds me of the time before trance was still trance...Heavily layered, your ears would get a reward for paying attention.
I was looking for earlier stuff tho, in particular, some of the earlier sets by sasha, digweed, were widely reguarded as some of the best sets ever recorded. Other stuff from people like morales, judge jules, tong was also on the 'to download' list of mine. |

oh man there his a whole wealth of EM's out there. ofcoures oakey's 99 world tour.
but any of Sasha's older mixes, and even his one at priviledge in 2003:eyes:
I have every em from 93-95, and im working on 96.
every single EM is on soulseek, no doubt about it.
Ones that stand out in my mind: Sasha in 2001, any of Nick warrens older EM(99), and even yes, A boy George em from ...98 i believe(only 30min, but great house tracks).
i believe tiesto's first one was in 2001, and it was pretty lack luster, the only reason i loved it was because of
Soulicous - Further Most:eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:
Parks & Wilson's First Em was great as well, and so was Kleinenbergs. |

i still cant believe people dont use soulseek for EDM. it is the best EDM resource you will ever use. A lot of rare stuff on there, and tones of people to download off

I've been d/ling off soulseek. I haven't been one of those suckers who pays for the privledged status, so it usually takes me a week before I can find a copy. Unfortunately due to my old comp, and lack of HD space, I've deleted most of them, save maybe 7-8, but depending on the help I got with this thread I wanted to actually try to start a collection of all essential mixes ever and burn them onto however many cds it took.
My soulseek isn't the greatest for finding stuff these days, so I was essentially hoping to get the names of a couple people with collections that I could leech to start, share with after, to bolster the collections of everyone involved.
and Orko, yes you can use that quote for your sig. But I realized it's a little sloppy...use :

- EDIT -
this. I just searched the most general term 'Pete Tong essential mix'. I came up with 5 hits. In each one, I'm over 50 in the queue/// |

I get a massive amoutn of hits in soulseek, no matter how obscure the search.
and i am one of those 'suckers' how pays for priviledges, iv done it all year long, and there is no way im going back to having to wait!
if people want to help me collect, i can burn the mixeson dvd for ya. im not sure how this will work, but we can try.
HUGE TIP: if you cant find what you are looking for through the search, add it to your "wish list" its a constant search that runs in the background, and it will sooner or later find somthing you are looking for.
aslo if you are behind a router, try mapping your ports, thast one reason you get fewer search hits. PORT: 2232 |
