anyone know exactly what happened at Finch subway station tonight at around 9:40pm?
police and fire dept. were rushing to the scene, some announcement over PA system about a "problem" and "emergency services on the way".
I was getting on the bus at the time and from what I overheard, it was a jumper.
apperantly TTC keeps body bags under the platform too and has a number of "accidents" that don't get reported on the news (makes me feel so much better) |

there was a thread about subway jumpers sometime ago .. apparently it happens quite frequently but are under-reported due to the high occurence..
(ie. each 'electrical problem' could in someway be seen as a jumper incident)

some1 jumped and they had to close the subway from sheppard to finch to get the body off the tracks.
we've got regular jumpers every month now |

| I feel sorry for those cleaning crews. Must be goddamn horrible to clean a mess like that. Who the hell would pick that job. |

| They have full time psychologists on staff to help the drivers of the subways who have been affected. So sad! |

Yea, that's a tough job. Check *********** for some photos of the kinda stuff they have to deal with. The pay is apparently very good though, i'm guessing over $100/hr. |

Yeah it happens more this time of year...about 2 or 3 per week and there are special crews who do the grim work...sometimes these jumpers survive...:( :( |

It's actually an agreement between the papers and TTC security; that's why you never read about them.
One of my old managers has a friend who was head of TTC security...
besides, it would be too depressing... :sadgreen: |

| Jumpers are a normal occurance in every city that has a subway system. And they, of corse, have to hide most of those occurances from the PA. This shouldn't be a surprise. |

| sad to hear that there are STILL people jumping infront of the bloody trains - these epople deserve to die - if they can think of takin' their own lives in front of other innocent eyes... |
