Johan Gielen@ Avalon Nyc(18-12-04) (pg. 3)

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say that I'm not feeling Johan Gielen. I kind of liked him for awhile back in 2001-2002 but his mixes aren't very melodic or grooving nowadays. His mixing can't be a bit off too. Throw in the fact that it's at Avalon and not a good combo for me.

Avalon is ok at the big big named DJ's because it brings more of the fans. Otherwise, during mid-tier guys like Johan Gielen or Marco V or something, it's usually pretty wack. It's just that the people there can impose on your fun. It can be tolerable at times though. It depends.

At Marco V, I had this crowd of 8 Fob guys want to jump me because one of their broke girls bumped into me from wigging out and turned around to say "don't grab me." Like right, keep dreaming sweetie.

yeah im SURE they will be broadcasting...

hmm if i go, ill probably just chill on the 2nd floor, thats NEVER bad really...i avoid ALL corners as well as the platforms on the main floor cuz fobs tend to love to congregate there.

I just hated the fact that I couldn't really dance until the last half hour of the set when there was finally room on the floor.

yeah its def a given when theres a BIG event there...bleh they just overpack the place, stupid f0ckers -=P

rocksteady
Avalon's dance floor seems so small...

All the damn hallways suck too...

I long for the days of big open clubs....Like good ol Exit, say what you want about their crowd, but that place was laid out nicely!

ikon (the revived exit) was actually ok when Godskitchen events were held there regularly earlier in the year...just that no one really came to the events. which was too bad cuz there was some good djs that came around...
