Ahhhhh, you beat me to it.
I think it comes from 'molded' as in 'somthing that has mold on it'. I used to as use it as: MOLDED. 'Moded' is ebonics. I think its probably a west coast, california, or bay area term though.
BTW: MOLDED/MODED > OWNED/PWNED
