i believe tiesto definately used vanguard to create his bassline in his version of adagio for strings (typical gated sound) and also in nyana he used vanguard i think... |
no
he used access virus
and thats right Mike Clark is tiesto's preset maker, he is selling a bunch of his presets early next year, iv had the chance to test a small amount of them, and its a 10/10 from me.
keep an eye and ear out for them next year. |

Oh no, no, no !!!
Tiesto has a very big studio, he has many hardware synths, so what would he do with a vanguard ? :)
No, he has an Access Virus C (the best synth for me), more than 2000, 16 parts multitimbral, 64 effects, 4 osc... It's the best of the best, it produces very POWERFUL trance sounds !!!!! :eyespop:
He has many others hardware synths too...
The vanguard is too limited... Good sounds, very powerful for a softsynth, but limited... |

it's not about the machine, it's about the man behind it ;)
anyway, back to the topic :)
the biggest ingredient is probably experience. Theese guys have done what they do for over 10 years, if youv'e done it that much then you prolly get a pretty good idea on how stuff should sound ;)
some use engineers like tiesto and some people even do the mastering by themselves (not 100% about it but I've heard from pretty reliable sources that armin does that ;))
If i had to select one of the methods I'd go with "do everything by yourself" simply because you have more controll over what's happening with your own stuff :) (but on the other hand who cares about me :p) |

nope ive never produced a track..... i thought it was obvious tho that the 90% was clearly an exageration of it and merely used to say that it takes more then a awesome bank of presets to make a track..... |

About all the stupid nonsense of mastering: It's about mixing, not mastering. Mastering is preparing the track for pressing it onto vinyl.
It's all about the mixing! |
