Police: City Worker Threatens To Kill Due To Unsatisfactory $6 Sandwich
City Officials Relieve Employee Of Duties, Pending Investigation's Outcome
December 9, 2004
HOUSTON -- A city worker was arrested Wednesday night, accused of threatening to kill people inside a northeast Houston restaurant after he was not satisfied with his order, police told Local 2.
Man Not Satisfied With Sandwich Faces Terroristic Threat Charge
Investigators have charged Public Works Employee Delvin Nelson, 34, with making a terroristic threat after he allegedly got mad with the way a clerk made his $6 steak and cheese sandwich at the Subway restaurant on McCarty and Mesa.
"It got pretty heated, where he threw a sandwich down at her and told her that he would kill her and blow up the building," Houston police officer Jim Atkins said.
Authorities said Nelson brought his sandwich back, complaining it wasn't warm enough. The manager offered to reheat the sandwich but Nelson continued to complain and said he wanted a new one made.
Officials said the manager agreed to make a new sandwich, but Nelson began cussing and demanding his money back.
As the manager made her way to the register, he came into the restaurant's kitchen and attacked her, investigators said.
"I don't know what to think. If he was angry enough to go behind the counter, who's to say what could have happened. I'm glad it all turned out OK," Atkins said.
Nelson has been relieved of his duties by the City of Houston, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.

| some people get into this "freedom" too much... en idiot, if I was the manager I would have slapped his ass silly and kicked him out of the restaurant. Maybe even called a cousin or two to "show him" the way out and "explain" to him a few things about etiquette... |

| Ive asked customers to leave before. It's very rare though as I only reserve that for when they are yelling obsenities or belittle an employee. I will not tolerate abuse from anybody. |

I can't believe the paper used the word "clerk" instead of "sandwich artist."
As if the person making the sandwich doesn't feel crappy enough as it is! |

You know, i just realized, if Diabolic would go to Jay's shop, im sure he'd go straight home to post another pointless thread about him eating at quiznos.
or no wait, he'd probably conduct a poll to see what he should eat first. |
