The immune system defiency is permanent though, so he has to take steroids for the rest of his life. And it's not garanteed to work :( And there may be possible side-effects *sigh*

My little fluffas has a similar (or the same? i dunno for sure) problem. hes really hates other kitties when they come on our property so he likes to get into fights (which isnt good for him since he has no claws and therefore much harder for him to win these battles w/o getting himself hurt, thank god he usually doesnt get hurt!)... i guess he got into a fight w/ a stray and got bit or something, but he was feeling and looking really sick about a year or so ago.
turns out he got a permanent immune system deficiency. there are they vitamin drops (i think thats whut they are?) we have to give him every single night now, bc otherwise his system will get down and he'll get sick again bc of that.
all this stuff is is 1/2 an eye dropper. and he now has grown to like it, so all we gotta do is put it on a saucer and he right away licks it all up (it was hard trying to force the drops into his mouth and down his throat, that was a MASSIVE chore to do :( and it wasnt fun! :( :( )
no problems w/ him since he started taking this med (whutever it is)
thank god. i love my little fluffas so much. id dunno whut id do if he ever got really really sick :( :(

infinity HiGH, i hope all goes well for your kitty, i dont think w/ Tai's there any chance of his not working (we just gotta make sure to always remember to give him the stuff each night) and there are no side effects. ur kitty will pull thru... :) |

BTW How old is smokey?
I got a similar med obligation with my white turkish angora cat "cloud" who's a diabetic now. He's on permanent insulin 2x per day for the rest of his life. If I miss more than 2 shots he'll die on me. My heart goes out to any cat that's got to be on permanent med.

He's about 10 years old I think.

Heheheh, thanks man! Hes cleaning his paws on my bed right now...
hes very lonely for some reason tonite, he keeps meowing/moaning for me to pet him and give him attention (instead of just typing on TA) hehehhe
