Has anybody had any experience with this 20gb "mp3" player. I just wanted to know how easy it is to scroll quickly through large playlists (3000 files for example). How difficult is it to scroll through really long files (ie 3hr sets). Does the Sony software recognise id3v2 tags? Has anybody got the new firmware upgrade that allows mp3 support? How loud does the player go?

Would you get this or a 40gb ipod, cause they're about the same price?

id go with the ipod... but this thing looks pretty sweet

it doesnt read in mp3 format, copying files across takes ages, then fast forwarding thru the tracks doesnt accellerate very much... you can probably go thru 1 minute of track in approx 10-15 seconds

on the plus side it's fkn small so i love mine, if you're going to get one make sure you organise your music collection into dif folders - these will most likely end up being your playlists because you don't want to go thru every track's id3 tag and correctly format the track name, artist, genre etc

hope i've been helpful - i still love my nw-hd1

wow, my nw-hd1 will suddenly turn on its hidden function in 8 more days!???!!!! :p

Az, you should say that the new NW-HD3 will be released in the UK on december 20th, with in built Mp3 support. I do believe that is also the same time that a firmware upgrade for the NW-HD1 will be released so that we can also share the benefits of native MP3 play. Also comes in a selection of colours, but Blue is not available here :( doesn't matter tho, i'm thinking of spraying mine in a custom colour, Standox Liquid Silver or Rage Extreme Spectraflash ;)

And yea, you should organise your playlists from the pc from SonicStage, cos it does have an unorthodox type of configuration on the player, which i am used to, but is a bit crappy to start off with :toothless

I still love it tho!!
