So my friend works for Microsoft and he's been introducing me to some of these new things they are rolling out, really cool fun stuff...
First of all MSN 7 Beta is now officially released - http://messenger.msn.com/beta ...
And another cool feature which I'm currently using (just started really) is the MSN Spaces - you can post pictures, create blogs, and etc - I'm pretty sure it's connected to MSN 7 as well
http://spaces.msn.com --> check it out :p
Here's mine so far... http://spaces.msn.com/members/digitalpunk/ |

Ah, to be so easily impressed...
Seriously, ICQ had almost all those features years ago. Message history? Set status before logon? Contact cards? Sheesh, I guess at least they're catching up... |

| And speaking of MSN Spaces, MS is again playing a catch-up game. It's amazing how they always miss to innovate when they need it the most, and only after realizing the potential of the product, they start releasing it. And just to re-emhphasize how popular blogging is right now, www.blogger.com is Google's 3rd most popular product after Search and News. |

Too bad they seem to have so much trouble separating the blogs and the search. As if anyone wants to get 5000 blog results when they search for pages on finance or economics or even pages on .NET. I want research material, not the opinion of Yet Another Goddamn Moron Who Shouldn't Be Given A Public Voice!
Since Google claims to be such an innovator, why haven't they come up with an option to filter out all those f*cking blog results? I hate having to type "-blog -blogs -blogspot -journal -journals -diary -webjournal -weblog" etc. to the end of every friggin' query.
Blogs = worst invention since Reality TV. |

Obviously there are a bunch of idiots who are blogging. But on the other hand, you get a chance read blogs by some of the main guys in the industry like Adam Bosworth(who is responsible for MS Access, IE, and currently VP at Google), James Gosling (inventor of Java) etc, etc, etc.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Use scholar.google.com if you want research material :) |

BTW, I just installed MSN Messenger 7.. First impression: IT SUCKS! Is there any way to get rid of the tabs(Alerts, Lava Life etc), and the advertisements at the bottom ?
I actually wonder who is the genius behind some of these tabs. People use MSN messenger for day-to-day instant messaging, not for day-to-day job/love finding... ridiculous !! |

That THING is waaaay too bloated with ads and features that us normal people won't use even if our life depended on it... It's so filled with unnecessary features and tabs that I got sick after using it for 2 minutes. Needless to say it can't even come close to apps like Trillian. Not yet, not ever. Friggin' mini-billboard for MS...
Too bad ICQ got bloated as well in the last couple of years. Then again, it's nowhere annoying as the MSN Messenger... I still don't get it how can people even look at that on a daily basis.
