Where to find DJ gear? (pg. 2)

| before this thread dies and becomes a distant page#2 memory, does anyone know any websites that offers user reviews of DJ equipment? I'm using very fragmented reviews from all kinds of different places for some kind of opinion, but can't find a consistant site for reviews. I understand that DJ magazines have reviews on new equipment themselves, but since most of the stuff I'm looknig at isn't always the newest, they've been less than ideal as well. Any thoughts? |

There are few people out there who are as helpful as Francis is as Moog.
The prices might not be the cheapest, but he knows his stuff, goes out of his way to sell you what you need, not what he wants to sell, and the after sale service is amazing.
Francis has loaned me equipment off the shelf when my mixer died and had to be serviced(I spilled a beer on it) Opened boxes of new equipment to give me replacement parts so I didn't have to wait for them to arrive, and generally is a great guy.
I have bought equipment online and elsewhere in the past, but am now a convert to paying a bit more and knowing that somebody is out there to help when ya need it. |
Awesome. I was looking their site and found it pretty informative and the prices were not to bad.
I think I'll make a trip to see him one day. |

| Hey, if you don't mind the shipping, buy from Etronics.com. Great price, and great turntable/mixer selection. 98% of the reviews were great, the other 2% were shipping problems, anyways check out the reviews |

Totally right. I was in there today, he convinced me to buy a mixer because it was an older model. Not because it was lower quality, but just because it would save me $300.
That guy is the bestest. |

I just can't justify buying top-shelf from Moog. Way too expensive.
Some items are 25% more money @ Moog. |

Yup. You can always get stuff cheaper. But then you gamble on the back end service.
I bought a Pioneer 600 mixer on eBay for about $500 cheaper than anywhere here in TO. Of course when it stopped working 2 months later, the $400 I paid to have it repaired (because the U.S. warranty wasn't valid in Canada) a lot of those savings were eaten up.
I have also had totally strange experiences with repairs at L&M. 6 weeks to get a fader in stock, for example, where Francis would probably give me one off one of their rental units while I was waiting (He really is that good).
No, I'm not related... in fact, I would imagine he doesn't even know who I am by name. |
