I got a buddy of mine who wants me to make a mix cd for his next college party. If its okay It would be awesome for somene to lend a mix cd of their own or something to burn and play for the crowd. I understamd some of the legal rights and all but this is for a party. To think past the legal aspect and just spin something for the crowd for a good experience. Thanks.

Got a recommendation? ;)

what style are you looking for?

please... be specific
DOOMBOT
Well, for the most part I dunno if this kinda crwod has heard a track full of uplifintg beats. I just need something to get every girl in there thinking damn, this is the kinda Ive been waiting for, while the guys think to themselves the same thing, "Damn, this is hot." Just something for everyone to get into. Some energized tracks to get everyone in the house to get into for an hour or so. :-D

is it a crowd who generally listens to hip-hop?

if so i recommend some funky house... i have two mix CDs of two milwaukee DJs who spin some funky house... its some good

if you want i can put them up on yousendit.com and you can d/l the whole thing

Yeah, every week it is hip hop that we listen to up there. Yet the guys are aprehensive to dance to the girls with it. I think if they saw the girls goin nuts to some somre really good up beat trance the entire scene would just be nuts. If you dont mind, I would love to hear your mix! :D

well generally its hard to get a whole crowd of avid hip-hoppers to start liking epic trance right away. the guys will be very hesitant to like it and the there will probably only be a few girls who will. im sure they would dance to it for a little while, but they'd prolly start asking for someone to put on some lil jon.

generally when college kids make the transition from hip - hop to a more 4/4 type of EDM, they start with house. this is a good reason why house is so popular. more poeple are willing to listen to it.

again, if you want, i'll rip the two mix CDs so you can d/l them this afternoon. i cant garauntee they'd like it, but i think they'd be more willing to listen to it than some uplifting stuff. i think thats something they have to be exposed to slowly...

I played James Zabiela @ Marconi Studios (Studio Brussel) 25-06-2004 on a party i threw. Most people didnt know who he was but it got a very good response, especially when Blur - Song 2 (Ivan Gough & Grant Smillie Mix) hits.

yeah... well... zabiela is more house and breaks so its understanable. the beats sound like hip hop and the bass lines are solid but no ebonics... i guess they can live without the ebonics:wtf:

Im listenin to Ferry Corsten right now and he seems to be able to mix it nicely. I dunno, he might end up beeing 75% of the night.
