Considering opening an online DJ hosting service.

I'm considering investing in the server(s) and connection necessary to start an online DJ hosting service for websites and/or mixes. I've been kicking the idea around for a long time, but the most important thing when it comes to this sort of business is knowing if there is a market for the product.
Therefore, I guess this thread is meant as a question of whether or not there are people here who would be interested in such hosting. I would be providing users with 250MB of space, an e-mail address, and all of the other features expected of a hosting service. Of course, the price would be reasonable. Something in the range of $15-20 a month for hosting, which includes tech support.
In addition, I would be providing artists with the option of not only hosting their site on the server but actually having it designed in-house by myself and two other graphic/web developers. (This, of course, would entail additional cost. Coincidentally, I am currently looking for new clients for my existing web design business, so if that's something you're interested in, by all means contact me about that as well.)
I look forward to seeing the general response to this. If there's a strong enough interest, I could have something going within the next few months. |

Judging from the PMs I've received about this, it looks as though it might be feasible. I don't think it will survive as a dedicated dance music service... but as a general hosting service, I think it would be a success. At least, I'd make enough to cover the expenses of running the operation.
Keep the feedback coming. I'd appreciate anyone's feedback on what kind of features you'd like to see, etc. |
