This is a bit out of the ordinary stuff we usually see here but thought it was a right laugh

I was talking to George Smith who did the systems in the old Studio 54 in NY. He told me they blew 20 JBL 18's in large vented cabs (like 6 feet high) two nights in a row. Voice coils on the floor kinda blown. No diagnosis was obvious, so he stayed until 5 am. to watch the activity.
People very high on coke were climbing inside the cabs to get killer bass, reducing the cubes of air in the cab, raising the point at which the carefully enginneered air mass would support the drivers, effectively unloading them. Presto... blown 18's.
Sorry - but that's just too funny. ted.
:haha: :haha: :haha:
Is that one reason why bouncers dont let you fall asleep on speakers in clubs cause they're scared you may try and snuggle up into them :conf: :stongue: |
