ever get a record where it's bass is really low ??? or it's just very "unclear"???? so when your trying to beatmatch it gets kinda hard, cause everything sounds kinda distorted?? and the more volume you push, the more distoroted it sounds?? any suggestions ???

if its very muddy and you cant beatmatch to it because its too low you have too much sub. turn it down. or EQ it out. boost everything else till its as flat a frequency response as possible (you will need a spectrum analyser to calibrate your rig). note that running differentsongs with different frequencies in it will not produce a flat response. most tunes however roughly have presence in similar frequency ranges. just keep tweaking it with the songs you got to get it as accurate as possible with the type of music you typically play. then do what the hell you want with it. cut a little of mid and bring up the bass eng and treble a teeny bit to make it sound a little wider, a little more massive on the top and bottom end. a little boost around 60 to 120hz to fatten up the kick and parts of the bass, make fine adjustments between songs. if you were to run a song with your current set up through a speccy analyser you would probably find that, if its distorted and muddy, that theres a big wide spike between 20 and 55hz. you do not want that. you arent supposed to hear it very well but at high levels you will feel it and its good to have around. if you are amping it so that you can hear it, holy ing - think what the sub is doing to the people on the dancefloor. probably shaking them into soggy flesh bags and liquidizing their organs.

i dont think he is talking about specific sound setups, just tunes with big fat deep bass. :)

in answer to that question, beatmatch with the high-hats. if it helps kill the bass on the track while you are beatmatching it.
