| Sat through The Fellowship on the 2nd day after it opened. I was underwhelmed. Waited to see The Two Towers when it made it to HBO/Movie Channel/Whatever...couldn't make it through the entire thing. Of course by that time, since I watch them both religiously, I had also seen the idiotic parodies on SNL and MAD TV. I don't care to watch ROTK. The movies are a disgrace. |

man that whole ending was NOT needed :wtf:
i almost killed myself trying to make it through the extra 45 minutes on the ending with just everyone staring deeply at one another and moving in slow motion. |

I haven't seen any of the extended editions. I just saw each of them in the theatre.
Good films, but they strayed from the books far too much. Sure, call me geeky or whatnot, but Tolkein wrote the books the way he did for a reason. Some of the stuff was good to cut, but almost nothing they added did anything for the story, and cutting some stuff made it really messed up. I don't know if the added footage corrected any of this. I assume in Return of the King they added the whole bit with the village at the end.
But added stuff, like the love triangle with Aragorn and that blond chick, or Aragorn almost dying when the caravan was attacked; that was just pulp content to appease the masses. It was stupid.

Remember when the films came out, and 90% of the cast were unknowns? I see them all in different films now, and they all suck. But the acting in some parts of these movies was really good, and was overall decent. It didn't go over the top in too many parts. |
