CURSES! I was so ticked I missed filo & peri last time they were in T.O.
I got an exam on the 18th, so if it does happen, I can't make it.
I am also reminded of a great acronym, PPPPPP. Proper planning prevents piss poor performance. Considering how ty this promotion has been...
Do all of the TOTAs a favour, Bo. RESCHEDULE! There's already a TOTA event on the 17th. |

BO,
you should try contacting other bigger clubs for your gigs i am sure they would want you to play there!
*hint hint* the guvernment :D |
besides guv what do you know. viva is serious about what a party is about, and care about what people in there wants, never diappoint any real party people for the past 21/2 year.not just about packing more people and make more money or become " BIGGER " and treat people like ... even take care of shwllow people like you. just ask all those big or small name who play there and let them tell you how we treat them. |

It's a bloody outrage that one of my most favourite production duos are getting yanked around by a club that clearly does not want to succeed. I feel very bad for the run-around you've received, Bo, and hope if it indeed is true that you're not going to make it for your date this Friday, that we can get you up here very soon. Then we can roll out the TOTA red carpet for a real welcome :)
Looking forward to it.

first of all i have to apologize to every filo and peri fans and and of cause filo and peri themself for the confused situation. viva had make a request on the duo at the beginning of nov. and the did not get a confirmation from the "agent" until last thursday which leave the club no room for the proper promotion.so there is a rare communication errorhappened in between. viva had never "yanked" any big or small name before and will never do that in any given situation. we'll bite any bullet for the real music people and party lovers.so don't worry.we are not tryiny to defence a mistake but we'll make sure there is something to make up for everyone. |

My apologies for prematurely jumping to conclusions.
I've very little experience myself with the intricacies of event promotion, but it was fairly easy for anyone to put together the pieces of fact presented and form an (possibly unjust) opinion of the whole affair. I realise now that I likely replied in haste and hope that you might understand why.
Mistakes and miscommunication do happen, but proper planning and verification of details before entering into a contractual arrangement happens much more often, especially when there is any amount of capital investment at stake, as I'm sure is the case when securing international talent.
That being said, I find it very hard to fathom that a sound business could continue to plan, announce, and execute an event that might not even be possible, whatever the communication breakdown or other issues. I find it especially difficult to understand how an organisation could press ahead with holding an event in spite of the fact that there was very little or no time left for such critical (and time-consuming) arrangements to be made, such as work permits and immigration considerations, airfare booking, securing accomodations, flyer design and printing, and so forth.
Even with contact being established with the hired performers or their representitives and the agreed upon event date looming impossibly near, it remains hard for me to see how anyone could still have gone ahead and risked not only financial loses, but loss of respect from one's paying customers, and loss of respect within the artistic community.
Yet again, I'm sorry for the brash tone of my email, at this point I remain without all the facts in front of me to form a conclusive opinion. However, I do know this:
- A news item dated November 22nd on Filo & Peri's own website announced an appearance in Toronto in December (along with New Orleans and San Diego).
- A thread in this forum was posted soon afterwards, asking for details regarding the Toronto date, without much of a definitive response.
- Just over 24 hours ago, a roll call thread was opened by what I presume to be at least an agent of the promoter, which included very vague details regarding the event, which by all accounts was still going forward.
- This afternoon, the artists themselves came online to browse the forum, making a post expressing their uncertainty and disappointment stemming from all absence of travel arrangements or contact of any kind from the promoter that apparently promised to bring them to their venue (but at least with enough communication to warrant a tour date news post), and then went ahead with a lacklustre (by any standard) event roll call thread.
Your explanation of the situation could very well be true, but please forgive me if I can't seem to shake the nagging feeling in the back of my mind that some of these facts just don't add up. I regret jumping to conclusions and once more, I am sorry if I called into doubt Viva's ability to provide an enjoyable event. Thanks.
