You need credit to receive calls up there? Here you can receive calls for about 3 months after we run out of credit :p

We no longer have the kind of accounts where you can yackity yack yack yack and then you get a bill for a zillion dollars at the end of the month because we all talk too much. Or so we were told. So instead, we have phones and with our allowances we pay for the minutes in advance. It's more expensive because we pay like .25 american dollars per minute but that way we don't get huge phone bills. They put all of us (my sisters and cousins) on this plan because we abused our accounts initially. Or something like that. :D

Coincidentally I had the same thing happen this morning. I was watching Band of Brothers on the computer, laying in bed, and then the phone rings - but only once. I thought, wtf? Which is weird, considering I'm not to far from London.

Everything's more expensive in Scandanavia though. Is the cost of living in Denmark as pricey as it is in Norway?

I guess my question was a bit confusing :p

I do have a pre-pay plan for my mobile phone, but here we only pay when we make the call, not when we receive. So it doesn't seem logical not to be able to receive a phone call just because who was supposed to be called to has run out of credit. Does the person who receive the call pay as well?

No, but I will right now.

EDIT: Got the message, 'Sorry, this number cannot be reached by this method.'

:wtf:

Here we have free local phone calls.

What that means with the cell phones is that your cell phone plan only includes a certain number of minutes lets say 300 daytime and 1000 evening/weekends.

So yes in effect you are paying when someone calls you on your cell phone .... quite something else.

Hmmm.

This is difficult to answer. One item may cost considerably more in northern Jutland than it would cost in Copenhagen and it would cost considerably more in Copenhagen than it would cost in say, a southern California mall.

But the cost of living is less at home because we don't need or use or even want as much. Our lives are much simpler. We own less. We consume less.

lol, well, I honestly have no idea. I think I only pay when I make a call but I didn't put money on my account lately and my roommate just tried to call me and she got that recording. But my phone isn't charged either. And my older sister's account is still disconnected. I assumed they cut off her number DURING our conversation because when I called her back, I heard the recording.
