CD-R drive not recognising Blank CD-R's

The title says it all really.

My CD-R drive is not recognising blank cdrs. If I insert one into the drive they are simply not detected. Also when I try to burn a CD via Nero it keeps asking me to inset a Blank CD and lists the drive as Empty
It still works for other formats, IE It can play & detect CD's, DvD's & CD Roms ok on it - just not CD-Rs

I've also tried 2 versions of Nero & a few different types of CD-R and still the same prob :(

Any Ideas anyone ? :conf:

Cheers in advance :)

i had the same problem with my laptop, which runs XP. first up, make sure your drivers are up to date and disable Autoplay, and then try again. if not, there was a really stupid way of getting around it which went:

1. right click on your CD drive and click properties.
2. click on the Recording tab
3. disable recording, and then press OK.
4. now do the first 2 steps again, but this time re-enable recording and press OK.

if that didn't work, the other way was:

1. right click on your CD drive and click properties.
2. click on the Hardware tab.
3. select your cd drive and click on the Properties button.
4. click on each of the tabs once ( :wtf: ) and then press OK.

if you still have problems then it may be something to do with the hardware, but don't quote me on that.

Had the same problem with a Mitsumi CD Burner. Tried it in different computers and operating systems. Never worked properly. Exchanged it for another one, and still had that problem. Never buying Mitsumi again!
