I would be VERY interested to see some of the lyrics, but being an independant release, that proves quite difficult.

As for the meaning, do you care to offer a guess on what philisophical paradigm is being represented by the title, "Thugz of War"?

He could be referring to the US and yes I do care about the words - cannot make an assumption without knowing what is behind it?

Gun control is, for the most part, a sham.

The real issue here though is immigration.

here's an example of a few album titles by an upstanding HipHop group who hav had albums whos names hav been perhaps somewhat misleading if one were not to hav listened to the content prior to making an opinion about its message..

Public Enemy - Revolverlution
Public Enemy - Hazy Shade Of Criminal
Public Enemy - Shut Em Down
Public Enemy - Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black

lots of HipHop music reflects the current stage and struggle that many of its artists are presently in. i'm not ruling out the possibility that the lyrics in the album in this article may hav promoted violence, however, due to the lack of information provided witin the article.. one has to give them the benefit of the doubt, atleast for now..

Please view this and tell me it's a political statement.

Tracks include:

Don't Funk with us
Last Time You Breathe
Got Dem Bitchez
Get Daddy Dat Dough
Dat Murder
(Spelling and grammatical errors from the CD)

I'm sorry, but there is NO higher meaning here. Still not convinced? Enjoy some of their tunes that are linked above.

Let me repeat....I'm not slagging on Hip Hop as a whole Emz. It's just sad to see it pulled into this lowest of denominators and fustrates me when people then scratch their heads as to why the atmosphere around their music is so violent....especially when that ignorance is coming from the people who write and promote this stuff.

I think it's pretty sad that some people hate their own culture so much that they have to rip off other cultures, and in this case, rather badly.

yeah i don't agree with this either.. i personally enjoy a lot of hiphop, i even started listening to it before i got into trance. there's a lotta good quality artists and music out there, but it's often overshadowed by incidents like this which are always unforuntate.

btw. i know ur not bashing hiphop as a whole, as you mentioned here:

quote:

This is not about bashing Hip Hop per se, it's about the willful ignorance of promotion of a certain kind of atmosphere, lifestyle and attitude then being agast at the obvious outcome of the actions perpitrated by those who follow and adhere to that mindset.

the irony behind all this is pretty mindnumbing tho i'd definately agree

^^^^^^^

Agreed, that's the worst part.....that the TRUE artists with vision and real things to say that matter to people are lost in the stereotype created by tragedies and the blatant shallow gangsta trash all too common in Hip Hop.

It's funny how a whole gendre of music can seem so tipped towards the despondent pysche of the ghetto environment.
What's crazier is that it sells albums at all.
They create their own vicious circle of fear, thuggery and a general sense of dread.
Who wants to look forward to a life like that?? :wtf:

I'm not going to be hypocritical and label the WHOLE hip-hop community because every once in a while there is a tOOn that comes out of that black abyss of society that I enjoy.
Normally something uplifting, a fight overcoming overwhelming odds or something of that nature.
But I just can't bring myself to that mentality level and actually say I enjoy it... :sadgreen:
