| yah i remember last year thinking that progressive was the new direction trance would go. it seems to be more of an artform than most trance, especially a lot of uplifting trance. of course most of my friends dont get it and are far too impatient to listen to one set just to hear the buildups/breakdowns you get with normal trance, just composed with WHOLE songs rather than within songs. its also amazing when DJs like Kleinenberg and Sasha mix so seamlessly you couldnt tell there were actually two songs, thats mixing talent. although i admittedly havent heard a ton of Holdens stuff, my fav is prolly Horizons(way out west mix). that song is so bad ase...late/ |

Nice to see that there are a few ppl on the board who love more then just the uplifting tunes !! :)
My favorite Holden track of the momment would have to be :
Ogenki Clinic - Kirei (James Holden vs Main Element Mix)
Although I am still digging his older stuff as well. Have anyone heard his mix comp Silver Planet ? It's ing awesome. U should be able to get it from AG or msg me I have the full thing. |

As for James Holden...well he is the golden boy of silver planet and probably the best thing to hit the progressive trance scene. I love his productions and his remixes are always class ! Let's hope he stays true to the proggie faith and doesn't produce any cheeze...I'm guessing he won't though :) |
too late buddy, he's behind that horrible remix track Planet Perfecto - Bites Da Dust
the new one, ya know, that samples queen? horrible cheese new house track. anyways i know exactly what you mean tho...
creamer and k are pretty good, they have a couple new great tracks out, like "i love you" and i forget the other one.
way out west are the kings of true progressive trance.. i cant really think of producers to match, altho there's plenty of great singles
biznology, i also agree with you, thats the beauty of prog, but sometimes it really does just get boring.
feisty boy, i love both cds in the digweed GU sydney, but yeah LA sucked hard. check out NICK WARREN's GUs if you like that deep trance sound. and DAVE SEAMAN cape town disc 2... great progressive trance/house but not really house, ykno?
hope i could be of help, this is a great thread.:D |

I haven't heard the remix of the planet perfecto trax and by what u are saying I'm better off not listening to it. Who knows maybe Holden messed up with that trax. Anyway i don't doubt that Holden is surely going to be the man to watch out for in the next few years, this guy is full of potential (as seen from trax like "Horizon" and "One for you")
I'm also digging a lot of the new Bedrock remixes and also stuff being done by Chab and DJ Nukem...these guys are blending in deep/dark house and trance with some nice progressive beats, very much like the Peace Division. The progressive era is strong !!! :) |

if you want some progressive stuff check out some tracks and remixes by producers such as Futureshock, Cass & Slide, Saints and Sinners, Tarantella and Brothers in Rhythm.
Yeah the Global Underground series seems to provide quality progressive over the years.
Man, GU 16 Disc 2 mixed by Dave Seaman is one my favourite discs at the moment !!!
Don't miss the Tinrib label for some top stuff. Artists like Skynet UK, and Digitale provide the most banging and uplifting sounds. |

I think that the uplifting to progressive transition happens to most ppl who love Trance because after a little while u crave a more mature and deeper sound. I don't want to sound all superior and all but after listening to the uplifting stuff for more then 4 years progressive sounds so much more deeper. I still love the uplifting tunes though, but these days the number of quality uplifting tracks are harder to find. |
dats wat i think right now as well, i still luv trance, upic, emotional, and uplifting, but Progressive is da dat hits me right now!

yes yes yes :) :) :) all of Nick Warren's GU's r da best, Dave Seaman as well...both Dj's very underrated and it should stay dat way forever :) :) patticus did u hear Darren Emerson's GU series...well i didn't have a chance yet, but his Love Parade sets r just en sick, progressive house, yet at da same time kind of trancey and deep u know? :) :) Digweeds GU series r good, 4 some reason his livesets r better dan his cd's :conf: dont matter ;) i agree with Way Out West being da kings of true progressive trance...just da song THE FALL says it all, same goes with Intensify, especially part 1 which is just incredible, part 2 a breakbeat :) ;) |

| Yah! WoW rox! Man Intensify is easily one of the best CDs I own, its sooo bad ase! late/ |

blue neon, i like darren emerson but i havent heard those sets. i have his GU which is pretty housy, and a couple great sets titled "Live @ I Love Techno"
kind of a fast techy, house sound. he plays jan driver - drive by (timo maas mix) etc. great mix.
if you lean towards the darker side, dont miss out on hook.. like chris cowie et. al, there is some really great hidden dark stuff on there, a lot of which christopher lawrence plays.
not always my cup o' tea, but it may be yours.
bedrock remixes are always awesome..
continuing on this note, do you guys like moonface - u get so give ?
newer bedrock release, absolutely massive sample, sasha played in his 2.27.00 EM |

mmm yes im more of a prog head now than ever before...to me its got a very very unique underground feel to it...The progressive sound is an acquired taste....deep melodies and tribal drums...i mean omg is awesome. Im listening to GU21 by deep dish and as usualy they never fail to dissapoint me. As for my fav james holden track it would probably be Ogenki Clinic - First light or maybe Horizons(WOW remix)
anyway peace out :P

Hey you good-taste-ppl
Thanks a lot for this thread !
:) :) :)
Coming from a music theory background, i was founding some trance leafs to be very unpleasant, while listening to some Bedrock and James Holden stuff I was really amused... :eyes: This thread is now gathering toghether some names I'll seek to hear, for now on.
Also, kudos to Kytracid, for the FTP (with Progressive tracks inside it) he provided to TA :D :D
And for those who got interested in Darren Emerson, I would point you to listen to Underworld... He was a member of it until mid-00. that's not trance, but also high-quality, in my humble opinion...
I have many D.E. live sets, and GIGA's of UW live sets and rare tracks, videos, etc., if you want something then just drop me a private msg. |
