Artists and their Labels

OK..Changing the initial point of this thread. Now, I need some help about LABELS and who owns them. Maybe we can also add the url address and the country where the label mostly operates. This sounds a lot easier, I believe and a lot more useful considering we already have discogs to find out which artists are signed to each label. So come on...let's complete this thing.

Yeh I was just about to say that. Also, most of this is already available on discogs.

exactly. maybe you should rephrase your question to see who RUNS the label and not whos signed to it.

Better still...we have an information resource to know all the labels artists have worked for over their careers...if everyone chips in a bit, I think it shouldn't be that hard

as far as i know, anjunabeats is owned by above and beyond (i cant think of their individual names at the moment) while bonzai is co-owned by airwave, push, yves dureyter, and a couple of other well known people. here's a few others:

perfecto - oakenfold (of course)
tsunami - ferry corsten
bxr - mauro picotto and mario piu (im not totally sure about this one but i think so)
a great way to look this type of stuff up is discogs.com it has tons of general info on anything having to do with electronic music.

Ok, initial idea is great, but I'll take one artist and just a handful of his alias' to illustrate why this would be a waste of effort and time.

quote:

Oliver Lieb

12 Inch Monkeys, BMG, Data Records, Delirium Red, Ellipse Records, Fax +49-69/450464, Harthouse, Orbit Records, Recycle or Die, Unrestricted;

Alpha Omega

Phoolish Records;

Ambush, The

Grand Casino Records, Harthouse, Magik Muzik, Planet Earth Recordings, Superstition UK;

Ambush, The Vs. Phools Inc.

Superstition, Superstition Benelux, Superstition UK;

Archon

Le Petit Prince;

Ecano

Avantgarde, Bonzai Limited, Red Alert, Tetsuo;

He also has another 15-20 alias, not to mention his 20 or so collaborations with other DJ.

Then try DJ Tiesto. Under that name he has released singles under at least 25 labels. Anyone like to guess how many after you consider his alias?

But this would all be great information, and the effort would all be worthwhile, if another database with most of the information didn't exist already.
